I have edited some of the in-game container GUI to beautify them and make the overall look better.
This pack changes all block or entity-based GUI some of which require Optifine features to operate properly but if you want all textures to work you will need OptiGUI (without optifine).

I took heavy inspiration from Blasjel's Advanced GUI and Stefanj2_'s BetterVanillaBuilding resource packs for this creation and it includes some of their code for the optifine integration, although the code would look the same no matter who typed it.
The dark pack is rooted in Vanilla Tweaks' dark GUI and also comes with a lot of textures from that pack.

I'm using mods and all textures in the dark theme are working beautifully except for single chests and double chests. They both have the barrel texture which doesn't repeat on the second layer of the double chest.
Is there a way to fix this?
The mods I have (using fabric) are optifine, optifabric, fabric api, and optigui.
I can see that in the drop down of pictures you have, there is a single chest texture
I've also looked through every file in the provided downloadable folder and both regular chest types are missing, so that must be the main issue as to why it isn't working. It's not there.
Edit: The file for the double chest is there, generic_54, but it isn't working in the game

It will fix the problem with Optifine.
It does appear that in your case you are using Optifine and OptiGUI together and since they are incompatible, the fact that you have OptiGUI installed is overlooked and it is just rendering the textures through Optifine.
I will say I found another interesting bug that I will report to the Optifine devs and that is the texture for a chest (Generic_54) does not update when you open a minecart chest or a chest boat so if the last thing you opened was a retextured chest GUI that texture will persist onto the chest boat or minecart chest, which I find quite peculiar.
