I took much inspiration seeing this mod https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture-pack/mapple-trees/ and looking up Japanese trees online, especially the large ones I planned to base this pack off of. However, spruce Colormaps are hardcoded to be darker than I wanted so instead of orange or yellow leaves, I went with this shade of purple. I also added details to the log and changed the sapling, but plank colors are the same for faithfulness and compatibility with other mods.
