About Aeon Extension Patch


This is a big update patch for one of the best futuristic texture packs, Aeon resource pack by thesparko. With mod support.

This is not a stand-alone pack. You need to download and install Aeon too.

Thesparko had plans to complete his work with graphics of his previous packs, I asked him if I could make a themed patch to add new graphics, bring back most of the missing graphics of the original Aeon and other packs of him, and support mods. He gave me his go-ahead.





Features


This pack adds, modifies and brings back over 200 graphics to Aeon resource pack: blocks, items and interface elements.

It also supports several items and blocks of mod like Galacticraft, MPS, Bibliocraft, Mekanism, Carpenter's Blocks and many others.

4 extra patch versions: Mars and Venus -- both add support for custom skies (requires Optifine) and terrain; 1.8 update and 1.9 update.

Quasi-major update. Adds glowstone and redstone dust and new anvil interface, fixes the black pine forest, and 1.9 stuff, and a bunch of small things.

Minor update. Adds new sound effects, Steve skin as test dummy, and fixes lots of lang files.

  • Vanilla: changed Steve skin, now it's a test dummy (for 1.7.10, a 1.8 patch is on the way).

It's a huge update. More than 100 files changed/fixed/added. Adds whole new glass block set and Et Futurum mod support. Lots of fixes and new content. Contains graphics of my own and TheSparko's (Aeon main pack).

Any plans for a 1.9 update? I'd love to use this as a server pack, but I'm afraid I'm not willing to give people random vanilla textures in the middle of the RPG...

Hello, I seem to be having trouble with the glass textures. The plain glass is not connecting, it retains its thick border which is very awkward-looking. The colored glass is just very plain. In your images, there are glasses with lines and patterns on them. How can I get my glass to look like that?
I am using Optifine HD C1 with Forge 1558 on MC 1.7.10. I have always gotten connected textures with this setup, and it seems to be working for other blocks, just not the glass. Any tips for me?

Ah, that makes sense then. I just swapped a few of the glass textures out with other packs' because I'm an idiot who can't get MCPatcher to work with Forge. It'll work for now, in the meantime I'll buckle up and wait for the stained glass solution to be ready!

You are not an idiot. It's just modding Minecraft that is dumb. I spend most of my time debugging and trying to get things working than actually playing the game.

MCPatcher hasn't got any update for 1 year, so I think it's time to move from it onto Optifine.

And I'm working on fixing the glass issue, among other things: Forum post and Blog post with plans.

I fixed it. I reinstalled Optifine and Forge using 1.8.8 instead of just 1.8. :-D Now i can't use Shaders though. D-:

My patch doesn't provide a full fix, it just made some CTM properties more "supportable" for Optifine.

Honestly, I don't know what may be causing your problem. I use Aeon main pack with my Aeon patches and Optifine on Minecraft 1.7.10 and Forge 1558 with no problem at all, except Optifine doesn't support every MCPatcher render method.

Did you try to load MC with Forge 1558 (or 1448), Optifine, Aeon main pack, Aeon Extention Patch and no other mod?

I tried with just Optifine and no Forge and i tried Forge with Optifine and Shaders, and i tried Forge without Optifine and with Shaders, 1st Didn't work, 2nd Didn't work either. 3rd Worked. Anyway, I'm thinking it'll work when 1.9 comes out.

1. It's impossible to load mods without Forge.

1st, I don't know how long you have been playing MC therefore I can't guess your entire modding experience. So...

2nd, I have no idea if you do the classical manual installation like in pre-Forge era (e.g. delete the META-INF thing, extract and drop the files inside the jar file), 99% of today's mods require a mod loader like Forge, Liteloader, MagicLauncher etc. And...

3rd, calm down. If you still need help, ask OF dev, show him the crash logs and explain your situation, since I can't debug other people's mods.

Because I barely have spare time for my hobbies. My priorities are Galacticraft development and keeping my YT channel active.

First, Aeon works with MCPatcher, no guaranties for Optifine (plus Optifine kinda hates the mods I support). If it removes itself in 1.8, I have no idea why. It does happen if you attempt to use it in 1.9 snapshots.

Well, i use Optifine because i like shaders, and my pc lags with just shaders. And yes i've checked with just having Optfine installed normally.
Anyway, the 1.9 thing is interesting...

They do work in 1.8.1. It's just MCPatcher that is not completely ported to 1.8.1.

Hi again EzerArch, :) I just downloaded the most recent version of your patch, I noticed some things:

1) The Daylight sensor still doesn't have the alternative texture (when you right-click the sensor).
2) The Flower pot still have ''holes'' when we look at it from the interior, but thoses gaps aren't there on the exterior.
3) The default Head have some invisible/missing sides, both in the inventory picture and in real game.
4) No new textures for the chest. If posible, I would very appreicate a military-crate-like olive green chest. :)
5) Colored Glass panes have brown edges, which isn't practical for glass panes walls, since it isn't uniform and seamless. I think you were aware of this tought.
6) As you surely know, there is still a lot of blocks and objects that still have vanilla textures, both from old and new MC versions...  

That's it for the moment. Thank you for taking the time to read this and possibly fix #1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 by the next update... :D

1) It was done few days ago.
2) Fixed.
3) This is quite problematic. MC 1.7.10 uses 64x32px steve.png, but 1.8.1 uses 64x64px steve.png, it's not possible to fix one without breaking the other. I'll support 1.8.1 and see what happens.

5) I think I can't fix it. "Better Glass are not yet implemented in 1.8" says MCPatcher developer. Unless I remove the borders altogether.
6) I know. Which ones would you think I should prioritize?

1) and 2) : Are these fixes included in the current update, or the next one? (they aren't fixed for me, so I guess it will be for the next update?)
3) and 5) : Understood. 
4) Wow nice job! That chest looks really nice! :D
6) Doors, if you haven't started. Maybe you could texture the minecarts and the boat as well? The new food if you have time, and maybe you could re-texture one or two armor sets to make them look like futuristic suits? (I know the mods have powersuits, but I can't use them for my project... ;) ) One last request: Would it be possible for you to re-texture one wooden fence? Anyone. It would be cool to have an iron-railing like fence. There is nothing suitable for indoor industrial fences in the pack. I know there is the orange-laser like fence, but it looks more like reactor energy stuff. ;)

Changes mentioned in 1), 2), 3 and 4) are for the next update, which will change/add about 25 files, mostly UI and item graphics.

It will also feature a "fix" for an annoying marked-as-works-as-intended-by-Mojang feature.

I'll look into those suggestions. Boat and Minecart are good candidates.
