1.18 Initial Release Download: HERE
This initial release focuses on re-texturing the world blocks so that gameplay and the look-and-feel of existing structures remains, but the character of the world has grit and real darkness to it. The necessity of torches or other light sources is increased as the lower pixel brightness of the textures means that there is less ambient light to go around. Be prepared! No more wandering around without proper tools :)
Most of the effort went into the common blocks: grass, dirt, sand, stone and wood. Other graphics were converted to the quake palette (except for a few bright colors like the diamonds and emeralds). If you find any graphics in this pack that don't mesh well, or you have other suggestions, leave a message and I'll be sure to take a look for the next update.
I have some interest in doing Quake armor models, mobs and so forth. If do work on those, they'll be released separately or as an update to this project. If you can think of any other Quake references that would tie nicely into Minecraft gameplay, leave a comment below!
Recommended Seed (with TONS of caves to explore under the spawn point): -2126274718264966511
Thank you for taking an interest! Let me know about your experiences with this pack!
P.S. Be sure to stop by and grab the Quake Ranger v2 skin for the truly authentic quake edition experience!

Had a quick question though - seems it doesn't quite work correctly for 1.12.2 :/ a few textures and the UI elements seem to work but thats about it. Any plans for a 1.12.2 version or know how I could get it working correctly? I have some hefty dungeon mods and they NEED those stone brick textures lol
I'm a pretty new minecraft player and have only been playing on the latest version. Still have more updates planned for the pack, but only working on 1.14, currently.
Also, what's the scope of this project? Do you plan on retexturing everything? Been searching for an overhaul that changes the entire feel of my game for quite some time but none caught my eye till I saw this.
The scope at the moment is to go through a list of mobs I've written down that seem like good candidates for Quake mobs. There's a small handful of those reskins left to do. I haven't investigated sounds yet, but if I can package those with a resource pack, I may want to change some of the sounds to match quake mob noises.
When those are done, I'm going to evaluate whether it's practical to create new art for the weapons. Not sure I'll find a way to do that how I want. Early experiments proved problematic.
I'm also doing ongoing texture tweaks for world blocks as I go along. There may be other things that grab my attention as I go along, like additional GUI changes. I'm open to suggestions!
