Ironfell is a MMORTS game developed by David Colquhoun. It includes a wide variety of units which range from dangerous (but expensive) dinosaurs to harmless( but cute ponies). With the new alliance system you can band together with your friends to take over the world!(Mwahaha). Previously this game was less "noob" friendly as the map was small and dominated by older players. With the new update the map has been expanded to thousands of realms. Players are also now given a "home realm" where you cannot be attacked by other players. Consider this as a safe starting place. As you gather up resources new posibilities in expanding your empire open up.  Unlike some other RTS games you do not  have a wait time for your units to be produced. All you need are resources.  Two of the reources commonly fought over for are iron and oil. Luckily you get a small iron deposit and an oil seep in your  starting realm.

-Game Overview-

Homerealm:
Here is an example of a homerealm given to a player.

As you can see there is an ironmine and several trees. You begin with two units (not including signs) which are a wood shack and an explorer. Using the woodshack you can build a miner, woodcutter, explorer, farmer, and carpenter. This homerealm is missing an oil seep. Accounts that enter the world for first time after July 17th, 2014 recieve an oil seep in their home realm.

Interface Overview:

Here I've opened up all the tabs in main screen besides the tutorial.
Starting from the top left we have the menu, trading proposals, alliance tab, and location bookmarks. To the top right there is a map and resources. At the bottom left the chat boxes are found. These chat boxes can be expanded using the red button over the arrow connected to the chat box. There are three chat boxes. One for realm, one for universe, and one for alliance. Only realm and universe is displayed in this picture.

Alliance Interface:
-Indie Game Review- Ironfell
This is a new feature added to Ironfell. All alliances can be viewed here. The "Create a New Alliance" interface allows you to choose name and moto as well as the symbol and shape. The symbol and shape colors can be changed using the color picker. Currently anyone within the alliance can invite, but in the future ranks + permissions may be added. For now it is used simply to prevent friends from accidentaly killing one another. Units that can be used to invite a player to an alliance are Prince at Arms, Princess, Warrior Prince, Knight, and Queen.

Resources Interface:

This interface shows the amount you have for each resources. Currently there are six resources you can obtain. These are food, oil, wood, iron, knowledge, oil, and electricity. Microchip and uranium are unavailable as of now. As I mentioned earlier oil and iron are two of the most valuable resources. However wood has a higher value as this universe is fairly new and the wollemia trees planted by players have not grown yet to Ancient Wollemia trees. Ancient Wollemia trees are worth 30k wood, but it takes very long for them to grow (44 days to be exact). Regular trees found in your home realm are worth 40 wood.
Keep in mind a woodcutter costs 10 food, 10 wood, and ten iron. They will turn into werewolves after 14 days. When they do you can use the werewolves as infantry instead. They are better than knights with their 80 health and 50 attack damage. We will get more into combat and units later.

Trade Interface:

To the left is where trade proposals appear and to the right is how one proposes a trade. To begin trading you need a unit with the ability to trade. These units include Knights, Explorer Caravels, Warrior Princes, Princesses, Queens, and Prince at Arms.
Along with the proposal you have ability to add a message to go with it. Your unit that has ability to trade must stand next to a unit of whom you want to trade with in order to send proposal.

When you click/push start a trade option under units available actions the hexagons (called cells by some in game) surrounding the unit will be highlighted. The range of this is one space thus as mentioned earlier you need to be next to the person you want to trade with's unit. The unit can be almost anything. It could be a sign or a explorer. I'm not sure if blood works however. The "Propose a Trade with (Player Name) will appear once you click on a unit of the person whom you want to trade with that is in the highlighted cells.

Map Interface:

The map interface displays coordinates and frames per second in the top left and right respectively.
Your view will be highlighted on the map by the semi-transparent white rectangle. As you can see the more units placed next to one another will change  the terrain's color on the map.

Bookmarks can be used to save your postion. You simply need to move to the place you want to save, enter a name in the "Save Current Location" slot, and push the button. You can use the "Change Your Location" section to quickly move between realms not on your list. Other ways to move between realms is by traveling through whirlpools, tunnels, stone circles, or pushing name of another player(this is not recommended as they may think you are watching them). The overworld can be viewed here. Flagships are marked on the map and the open realms are highlighted. You have the ability to zoom on world map as well as imputting realm # to find specific realm's location.

Movement:

Right click/push your unit. The actions available should then apper bellow the unit. Select the move option.

Spaces around the unit will then become highlighted. If you select one of the arrows the unti will travel in that direction  on a linear path until it hits an obstruction or if it is killed. Make sure your path is clear before using. Click on the other blank spaces to move your unit. To have your unit travel between realms you need to move your unit on top of a whirlpool, tunnel, or stone circle. Stone circles and tunnels can only be used by land units while whirlpools are for ships.

Attacking:

Some units have two options for attacking. These are "attack" and  "auto-attack". Auto-attack can be found in towers, but several  expensive units also have the option. Be careful as you may accidentaly kill an unallied friend.

Attacking will bring upan outline of your unit's range. As you can see above the knight has a range of one.
The range of a unit can be between one (mostly ground units ex. knight, woodcutter, swordsman) to 8 (flagship).
The attack speed for all units (with ability to attack) is the same.

Note: the flagship is the most powerful unit in game. It has a range of eight, attack damgage of 400, and 12k hp.

I may add more information on units later.

This game is free to play however you can buy resources at a fair price. $1 = 100k.

New realms are openning up each day. A map has been developed to view the entire world. You can find it here.

Ironfell can be played in your browser and can be downloaded from Google Play.
