If you've been on here recently, you might have heard of the 09/03/2020 nuclear attacks, but you might not know what happened. So what actually happened?

On September 3, 2020 at 1:48 PM EDT, a nuclear bomb codenamed "M.O.T.H.E.R." exploded in the south part of the city of Alta Rosalina, which was followed by a second nuclear bomb codenamed "M.O.M.M.M.Y." exploding in the downtown area of the city at 3:11 PM EDT.

As of September 14, 2020, the bombs caused an estimated 150,000 deaths with an additional 2,000,000 injuries, as well as at least $800,000,000 worth of damage.

It is still hotly debated who bombed the city. Some believe the offender may be the HCLI Empire, while others believe it is the Republic of Birbistan. However, officials recently discovered that preparation began in January 2020, but was kept secret until August, when the plan for the attacks was leaked.

In early 2020, an anonymous company produced two identical airplanes built specially for the attacks. These planes were controlled by an autopilot system, and they were able to take off and land vertically or stop in mid-air.

Disguised as passenger jets, the planes that dropped the bombs took off from an unidentified commercial airport at exactly midnight on September 1, 2020, heading east at an average speed of about 700 km/h for 48 hours before suddenly stopping in mid-air above the ocean and turning to face the city of Alta Rosalina. Just before noon, the first plane started flying toward the city and dropped M.O.T.H.E.R. while it was flying above the city. After about one hour and thirty minutes, the second plane started flying toward the city and dropped M.O.M.M.M.Y. while it was above the city.

The city of Alta Rosalina, which has a population of 3,500,000, was generally not aware of the nuclear attacks until when they happened. In the days leading to the attack, the few people who were aware of the attacks began building 3 bunkers located just outside the city limits. The last bunker was finished just before noon on the day of the attacks. When the bunkers were completed, their builders started warning people to hide in them, but most people, believing it is a hoax, did not cooperate.

When M.O.T.H.E.R. was dropped in the south of the city, about 600,000 people were killed. TV and radio stations began broadcasting emergency messages, and the city began evacuating its residents. But after approximately 20 minutes, the stations were hijacked (most likely by the attackers) and resumed normal programming. However, evacuations continued for another few minutes before evacuation staff received a false message that "the emergency broadcast was sent in error". No more than 9000 residents were evacuated.

After about one and a half hours, M.O.M.M.M.Y. was dropped directly onto the Alta Rosalina Center of Telecommunications, killing 900,000 people. With the Center of Telecommunications destroyed, most TV and radio stations cease to function and can no longer broadcast emergency messages. The city had already posted about the attacks on their own website and many social media platforms, but the posts were deleted and a false message was posted again that said "the previous posts were made in error".

However, evacuations continued when M.O.M.M.M.Y. was dropped, but were shut down after a few minutes and only about 5000 people were evacuated.

Currently, as of September 14, 2020, Alta Rosalina has a population of around 3,000,000, the majority of which had been injured by the attacks. The city is closed to tourists until the end of 2021. Since many of its own services have been destroyed, it relies on neighboring towns for services. However, almost all water supplies within 50 km of the city limits have been contaminated, so trucks carrying safe water from farther places arrive daily in the city and neighboring towns. The city has plans to be rebuilt over the following months to years.
