Remember those days,
When just met,
Where all was new and exciting?
Remember those days,
When each day again,
Was a whole new adventure?
When we learned the words
To say what we felt,
When the day was bright
Because it meant new hours together?
I remember those days,
When I learned your favourite colour,
And found it to be
The cerulean of the sea,
And you learned from me
Mine to be a contrast,
The magenta of love?
Those days whenn all was new,
Each day exciting,
But it was not to last...
The fortnights rolled past,
Like snowflakes amidst a winter storm,
One after the other,
Till a blanket of time softened and dulled
The passing days.
Now years have passed together,
In marriage our vows were promised,
To love through all days,
Good and bad, and in between.
Now the good days are lesser,
And routine makes bad days too oft,
But still we are together,
By our vows made together.
Still each day, I see your smile,
Soft and weary, yet radiant still,
Reminding me of that early thrill,
Of our first days together.
And through each bad day,
I hold strong to our love,
To know that this too shall pass,
And a good day will come again.
For love is an everchanging river,
Down which you travel together,
To enjoy the beauty that we pass by,
And to hold when rapids arrive.
Down the river together,
Hands intertwined,
Hearts linked to eachother,
We face the world together,
Even when the repeated words feel hollow,
And "I love you" becomes just a phrase,
We stick together.

It's very much based on the troubles i've experiences in my relationship, where you begin start having connectivity issues after almost 10 years of being together. The days bleed over into one another and you start living side by side, rather than together. We're slowly getting better again, but it's a slow road - and isn't life like that all too often?
I hope some people can recognize themselves in the emotional ideas of the poem, and find the courage and willpower to make things better <3
