A Life Of Steve:

Civilization, it’s destroying the world as we know it. It began thousands of years ago, it seemed like the solution for everything. People united were stronger. Food was easy to get, so people didn’t have to worry about it anymore. Surplus made humans evolve in a way no one had imagined possible. This idea of civilization was so good, other people decided to build it. It grew, extremely fast. Machines improved, people became stronger. But they didn’t use that strength the way they should have.
People started wanting these advantages just for themselves. They wanted to have more than the rest. Greed grew. As life became easier for others, it became harder for others. Everything was chaos.
A group of people realized what was happening, they saw the bad in the rich people, and the good in the poor. This people called themselves The Crafters. They helped as much as they could, trying to steal from the rich, and giving it to the poor. They did all that they could for years, generation after generation. But one day, everything changed.
One rich man called Steve acted as one of them. Made The Crafters think he was actually one of them. He did all they did for years, almost as if he wanted to do it. But he didn’t.
One day, when all the town was asleep on the darkness of the night, Steve killed all The Crafters. When he told the president about this, he was rewarded with all the diamonds one can get. He lived like a king.

Steve was walking down the corrupted streets of the city, when he saw a girl. Not any girl, the most beautiful one Steve had ever seen. She had dark green eyes and orange hair. She was wearing a green shirt with brown pants. Steve couldn’t believe such a beautiful creature roamed across the world. After nervously taking a few steps towards the bench the girl was sitting on, Steve manages to say.
- Hey, I saw you in the distance, and I wanted to make sure you where as beautiful as you seemed. I was wrong, you are even more beautiful. My name’s Steve.
The girl looks at him with a smile.
- My name’s Alex. Wanna go for a cup of coffee or something?
- Sure.

Alex and Steve were the perfect couple. They loved each other like no one in the world has ever loved. They could spend entire days just talking on the phone or looking at each other. But one day, Steve decides to propose to Alex, and to no one’s surprise, she said yes.
All of Alex’s friends went to the wedding, but Steve had no friends. In the party afterwards Steve looked around. Everybody was having fun. He saw all of her new wife’s friends, and thought if he could have ever gotten friends. Then he remembered The Crafters. Why did he killed them? Maybe because he liked civilization as it was, or maybe because he didn’t want to get robbed. He couldn’t remember, it was so long ago. He thought of how maybe The Crafters and him could’ve been friends, like brothers. The closest thing Steve ever got as a friend was a Crafter called Herobrine. He was a very funny guy, always trying to make everyone laugh. When Steve joined The Crafters, he was the first to greet him. Herobrine treated Steve as if they have known each other for years. They became great friends, but, why did he killed him with The Crafters? Steve struggled to remember.

Steve snaps outs of his thought and focuses back on the wedding party. He looks at her wife smiling with joy. It’s the happiest day of his life. There is no honeymoon in this wedding. There is nowhere to go that’s not the same as the city they’re on. So when the wedding finishes, they go to their new home.
After years, Steve’s and Alex’s relation grows bigger and older, just like their new son, Notch. They are a happy family. Rich from Steve’s work. He is the chief miner of the city. No one know how he manages to get over ten diamonds daily. People say he has Fortune X on his pickaxe, other say he can see through stone, with a super-power they call X-ray mod. But the way he does it is remembering his family, and what they deserve. He loves them like no one he has ever loved.

One day mining Steve finds something like nothing he had ever seen. It was something that looked like a portal to the Nether. Only the military was aloud in the Nether. Legends say there are flying monsters and fire creatures. But this portal was different. It was lying on the ground, and it was black. The frame looked as if it was made of eyes. He thought if he should go inside. It might take him to a magical world, where problems don’t exist. A place of peace. But it also could take him to a place worst than the Nether. With giant skeletons and ghosts. The possibilities are endless.
After looking at the portal for a while, he decides no to go in. Just continue his normal life. But as he walked away he started thinking of all the fame he could’ve gotten. Everybody would be amazed with this discovery. He would be more famous than he already was. So he jumps in.

The sky is black. The floor looks like cobblestone, but yellow. Steve can see pillars in the distance, with fire on them. He is standing on a floating island, all made out of the yellow cobblestone. The pillars, which are made out of obsidian, are in a bigger floating island. He parkours from little island to little island until he gets to the last one.
There are many endermen corpses on the ground. Steve had never seen Endermen before, just on TV. He is walking on the hard ground, not believing what he sees. After walking and walking he sees a weird purple figure on the ground. As he gets closer, he manages to see a dragon lying still. He gets closer, and touches the giant creature. Then, it starts breathing. Steve jumps back, but the dragon stays still, breathing heavily.
- Help me.
The dragon manages to say. Steve can’t believe what’s happening.
- Why would I help you?
Steve asks scared.
- The pillars let me live, but a horrible man destroyed them. He almost killed me.
- That doesn’t answer my question.
- My kids, are dying, and I can only watch from afar. I’m too weak to help them. I beg you human, save me, and my kids.
Steve looks around, at the weak endermen. Then he thinks about Notch, his beautiful son. He couldn’t imagine something happening to him.
- Ok, I’ll help you.
Steve looks around. The pillars are giant, he doesn’t know how can he get to them, and once he does get to the top of a pillar, how could he reactivate it? Steve looks at a fairly small pillar and gets closer to it. It is climbable, but it’ll be hard. He climbs and climbs, falling multiple times, hurting himself, but nothing severe. He doesn’t know how much time has passes since he started climbing, but he doesn’t care. More time passes and more. Failure after failure. Altho this pillar is not very tall, it’s still a challenge to climb it. But after all the hard work, he manages to get to the top.
A fire roared on the center of the pillars, burning a weird floating figure. Steve looks at it not knowing what to do. He steps closer, feeling the heat increasing with every step he takes. The fire looks like if it was alive, but trying to die. The bottom of the figure is not burning, just the top. It is floating in mid air. Steve decides to touch the bottom part of the thing. Once his finger touch the figure, the fire starts to decrease, and the object heats up, as if it was absorbing the energy of the fire. It takes a while, but the fire ends up burning completely.
A beam of light coming from the object reaches the dragon. It looks like it’s healing him because he starts standing up and opening his wings. Steve can’t believe the amazing view he is spectating.
The other pillars’ fire also stops and a beam of light reaches the dragon from each one. Steve starts thinking that the dragon is even growing in size. He looks around and sees that all the endermen are standing up, gaining force.
- Stupid human, you just condemned all your species. My vengeance will finally be completed, and all thanks to you. Humans tried to kill me, and failed. Now i’ll kill them, and e’ll end victorious.
Steve can’t believe this. What had he done? He knew endermen attacked people, everyone knew it. Endermen are a danger to the world. But Steve realized this too late. The dragon flew towards the pillar Steve was standing on. He stops just a few inches before Steve. The smell of the dragon made him wanna throw up.
- Bad choice.
Said the dragon as he turned around and flew away. But before he could go far away, Steve jumps to his tail and hugs it trying not to let go. A portal starts opening about a mile from the dragon. It’s getting bigger as they get closer. Until it’s the size of a building. Steve looks behind him and sees all of the endermen following this creature to the portal. Steve doesn’t know where it might take them, but he knows it’ll be a better place than this dark hell. The dragon is getting closer and closer, until they pass through.

At first, Steve doesn’t know where he is, but after a few seconds he manages to see the city on the distance, the on he lives in. This is an attack. Steve know all this is because of him, he caused it.
He starts thinking about Notch, his son. On the day he was born, Steve knew he was going to do great stuff. He grew loving science, but was good at everything. He got A’s in school, loved sports and was extremely creative. Of course, he is only seven years old, but Steve knew he was special, and he wouldn’t let the dragon kill this unique person he called a son. He remembered all the good time he spent with him. Like when they went to the zoo. Only the rich people could go there, even dough it was free. Notch loved the pigs. He said they were his new favorite animal. Or when they went to swim for the first time. Notch was five years old. He was scared of the water, but then jumped in, because he knew his father was brave, so he had to be too. His father was brave, and it was time to prove it to his son.
Steve starts to climb the dragon wanting to reach the head. But the wind is too hard. As he keeps trying and trying to at least get to its back, the wind pushes him to the side. He falls off the dragon’s upper tail and quickly grasps to the dragon’s right foot. Steve is tired. He can feel the sweat from his hands making him loose grip on the dragon. As each second passes, Steve has to try harder not to fall. This is it. He know he will die, there is no other option. All human race will die, and all thanks to him.
Tears fall of his cheeks and to the endermen running below. One of the tears falls on an enderman’s head, and it starts burning him. The enderman falls to the ground with pain, trying to dry out the small quantity of water he’s got on his head. He starts teleporting like crazy, probably not even realizing. The he dies.
Steve looks at this amazed. Water! He always knew that was a weakness for the endermen. He needs to tell everybody to prepare before the dragon arrives with his endermen, but how? The dragon is getting closer and closer and Steve is trying hard to think of a way to tell everybody about this attack. His head is starting to hurst just like his slippery hands. He’s about to slip when the dragon flies to a lower level dodging a missile flying his way. This causes Steve to fall, he couldn’t hold any longer. He’s scared he will die. He hits a tree and then the ground. He is hurt, but alive. The endermen are running alongside the dragon, getting nearer to the city.
The government already saw them, that’s where the missile came from, the city. That’s the reason Steve is still alive. Another missile heads towards the dragon and misses, but it hits the ground. A bunch of enderman parts fly through the air, but the dragon doesn’t care. He only wants vengeance against the human race. Then a loud voice speaks.
- Whatever you are, stop or we will keep shooting.
The dragon ignores this message and keeps flying with the endermen below. Steve runs towards the city as well. The endermen don’t seem to minds him, they just keep running. They are way faster than Steve, and the dragon is even faster. The missiles fly aiming at the dragon, all mostly missing, and the ones that do hit him, don’t do anything to him.
Steve thought of The Crafters again. He thought that maybe they would have been able to stop the dragon. They were smart. Each person had a different job. If someone worked using computers, he would’ve been called a Computer Crafter. If someone robbed from the rich, he would’ve been a Rob Crafter. Steve always thought this was a bit dumb, but he liked it anyway. But, if he liked it then why did he killed them? Right now was not the time to think about that. Right now, he was running.
Steve isn’t even near the city when the dragon arrives. He can see the destruction from where he is perfectly. Building are being destroyed and fire is falling upon the people. Steve can see the building his family leaves on, still intact. He remembers buying it. He and Alex got it a few years after the house. They got it for Notch. He loved the view. Steve heard the stories Notch told, about how he created the city he saw on the penthouse. All the people and buildings, he said he did them all, of course the stories were fake. Notch was so amazed by the view, he wanted to be the leader of it all. But he was just a kid then, and he still is. He doesn’t know that someone can’t just be the owner of everything. And now, there will be nothing to own, unless Steve can stop this madness, but he needs to get to the city first.

When Steve reaches the city, almost half of it is destroyed, but he can see his building still standing. Parts of it are black because of fire. It looks like it might fall in any second, but that doesn’t stop Steve from going inside it as soon an he can.
Inside there are missing blocks from endermen who took them. Even some stairs are missing. Steve cannot believed this. This was his home. Notch loved running up and down this exact stairs, and now he won’t be able to do it again. He might not even be able to run any stairs again. That thought made Steve’s back shiver, he needed to get to his family as soon as possible.
Most of the stairs were easy to climb, but there were some parts were Steve had to jump to keep going up. Steve is in the 17th floor when he encounters a gap so big, it seems impossible to cross. He sits down not knowing what to do, he is desperate. His family needs him and he can’t do anything. He starts thinking about how scared Alex might be right now, trying to save Notch while wondering where her husband is. Steve hates thinking like that, but he can’t help it. The frustration increases and increases, until Steve can’t hold it anymore. He stands up, takes about five steps back, and jumps. In mid-air he manages to see down. There is a giant fall to the previous set of stairs. If he falls right now, he might die. His two hands grip the broken stairs. One of his hands slips off and almost makes Steve fall, but he quickly grabs the stairs again. He pushes himself up with all its might, then he keeps going up, he has no time to rest.
When Steve finally reaches the top floor, he sees no one. The house is surprisingly arranged like nothing ever happened. Helicopters and jets are flying outside trying to kill the dragon, or at least most of them are. Other jets are killing endermen, or that’s what it looks like. They’re only shooting missiles at the floor. There are entire building burning with flames so big, it seemed there are red forests in the sky. People are screaming on the streets, running trying not to die. Steve knows this was all his fault, he will never forgive himself.
- Dad!
Steve turned right to see his crying son running towards him.
- Notch!
He kneelss and hugs him.
- Where’s your mother?
- She went looking for you, I think she went to the mine.
The mine. It is a very dangerous place. It is dark. Every creature, from creepers to skeletons spawn, even endermen. Steve knew he had to act fast. He carried Notch down the stairs. It was dangerous, but it was easier than going up because the jumps were smaller when going downwards. And altho he was carrying his son, he could do it with ease. There was only one hard jump, but he managed to survive it without a problem. A few minutes later they reach the last floor.
- Hide in the basement, and don’t go out, no matter what.
Notch does what his father tells him with no hesitation. Steve now has to run to the mines. The outside is filled with endermen. But he knows that if he doesn’t look at them in the eyes, nothing happens. He just wishes everybody knew this. As he ran he saw many dead bodies in the ground. This was all a nightmare, there were lakes of blood, but Steve had to ignore them, her wife might be dead.
Steve sees the mines in the distance. He is so close. But then, in a flash, an enderman teleport in front of him. The sudden stop he had to make makes him fall to the ground face first. He looks up to the enderman. Dark purple skin, it kinda looks like plastic. It seems the creature has no eyes, just a light purple glow. Steve’s looking at the enderman’s eyes when he remembers, they get angry when you do that. He quickly stands up while backing up. The enderman’s mouth opens and a horrible sound comes out from it. Then, he immediately teleports away. Steve looks around, scared. The enderman could appears in from of him in any second. A bush moves in the distance, Steve looks at it terrified. Nothing there. Then, a teleporting sound is heard behind him. He looks around, the enderman is there. It punches Steve in the guts, he cannot die this way.
The entrance to the mine is two blocks high, if he manages to reach it, he just might leave alive. He starts sprinting. But he doesn’t even give three steps when the enderman teleports to his right and punches him in the jaw. Steve falls flat to the ground, he has never been in such a pain. The enderman stands tall next to him, slowly walking towards him. This is it, he couldn’t save his wife, nor his son. He failed his family. But he didn’t want to fail them, he wanted them to be proud. He stands up and jumps at the enderman. He shoves his hands into the enderman’s empty eyes. There was some kind of ball inside of it, about the size of a ping pong ball but with a metallic feel. Steve rips it out killing the enderman. The ball is an ender pearl. Steve had heard of this. He could teleport if he threw them, that might become useful. He looks up to the cave, no time to loose.
The mine is silent, more than usual. It isn’t dark though, there are many torches. Or at least in the entrance. If Alex went deeper into the mine, she might be in total blackness. That is if she’s even alive. But she must be, she can’t be dead, that’s just impossible. Steve feels sick just to think the contrary.
- Alex!
Steve screams as loud as his voice lets him. No answer.
- Alex!
He screams again, more desperate. Again, no answer. As he walk he sees a body in the distance. He’s paralyzed. It may be Alex. He sprints as fast as he can, almost falling. As he gets closer to the body, a greener look gets clearer. It’s just a zombie with a stick in its heart. Who killed it? Did the mine had someone else besides Alex? And if it had, would he or she help Alex? This dead zombie raised too many questions into Steve’s mind, but there is no time to think about it. He keeps walking.
There is darkness ahead, no more torches, this is as far as any miner has ever gone. Steve had found many bodies of creatures as he walked, all of them with sticks in them, somebody had to kill them recently, but, who? He has walked for hours, just going forward and downwards, he is starting to loose hope. Then he hears the sound of a dying zombie, then an exploding creeper followed by the falling bones of a dead skeleton. Steve can’t see anything, all this happens in the darkness.
- Hello?
Steve manages to shout. Then, running steps are heard going towards Steve. A human figure appears from the darkness holding a stick. Steve is ready to draw his sword. As the figure gets closer, he recognizes it. It’s Alex. She jumps and hugs her husband.
- We need to leave now, get Notch and run to the nearest village.
Alex agrees to Steve’s plan, there is no other option to survive, so she has to agree.

The city is even more destroyed than it was when Steve left. Some buildings were missing and others were in fire. Steve is running with Alex behind, they can’t see their building from where they are, but if they get closer to the city, they’ll see if it’s still standing or not. Steve is out of breath, but Alex seems fine. She exercises more than Steve. She goes for a run every morning, or she did at least, because now there will be nothing to run on if this dragon destroys everything. Why does he want to destroy everything? Maybe a human killed him and that’s why he said he was going to have his vengeance, or maybe someone is forcing him to do it. Thinking of this Steve remember, he remembers why he killed The Crafters. He was forced to do it.
Steve loved working with the crafters, he loved doing everything with them. Helping people, making them happy, that’s what Steve always wanted to do. Herobrine, his best friend, also loved to help, or at least it seemed he did.
One day Herobrine and Steve were helping a poor woman get some food, when Herobrine draws a switchblade from his pocket and puts the point on Steve’s neck. Tears start falling from his almost white eyes.
- I’m sorry Steve, but you have to kill all The Crafters.
- What?! Why?!
- I know you want to help people, but they don’t deserve help. After years of working with The Crafters, I realized poor people don’t deserve anything.
- You’re crazy dude!
- No I’m not! Why should the rich people work and give everything to the poor?! They won the money and now they have to give it?! That doesn’t seem fair to me. I only want to do what’s right.
- I’m not gonna kill anybody!
- If you don’t, I’ll kill your parents and grandparent, and if you ever find a girl, I’ll kill her too!
Steve starts crying while hearing the words that are being said by his friend. This isn’t Herobrine, he can’t be. Herobrine is a good person, he wouldn’t kill, would he?
- Give me the blade.
Steve says while the tears fall of his cheeks. He walks away.
All the crafters are asleep, all but Steve. He enters each room and kills everyone one by one. All his friends, people who had helped him through all his life are dying thanks to him. He kills them all, the computer crafters, the rob crafters, the farm crafters, all the crafters in the quarters. Tears fall of his cheeks as he does this. The last one sleeps, happily, the Steve passes the blade through his heart. Done. He killed them all.
Steve goes to Herobrine’s house. He is waiting for him in his chair.
- Did you do it?
- Yes, I killed them all.
- Not all of them, you’re missing one.
- You want me to kill myself?!
- Aren’t you a Crafter?
- I won’t do it.
- Then I’ll have to.
Herobrine takes out a diamond sword. Steve only has the switchblade Herobrine had given him, but that’s all he needs. Herobrine charges at Steve and jumps with his sword above hid head. He strikes but Steve roles to the right avoiding the hit. He quickly stands up and throws a punch at Herobrines face. His hand hurts because of the impact. Herobrine falls back and quickly stands up. He throws his sword and it cuts Steve’s shoulder. Herobrine didn’t think about that move very well. Steve picks up the sword and he stabs it through Herobrine’s heart. He killed his best friend that night.

Steve stops running. Alex almost crashes him.
- What happened?
- I remember.
- You remember what?
- I once did something very bad, and now I remember it.
- What is it?
- Tell you when we get out of here, we need to get Notch first.
They keep running trying to find the building they live in. Many buildings have fallen, less than half are standing. A bunch of dead corpses lie on the ground, mostly human, but there are also some endermen that have fallen at the hands of the army.
Steve and Alex reach their building, or at least, where their building was, where their son was.
- Notch!
Alex screams while running towards the building. Tears falling off of her cheeks because she knows, Notch is dead. The building crashed him.
The dragon roars in the distance. Alex grabs a sword from a dead soldier and sprints towards where the roar was heard. Steve doesn’t even notice her wife left him. He falls in his knees. He feels a whole in his stomach. This can’t be happening. If he would’ve taken Notch with him to the mines, he would still be alive, this is all Steve’s fault, or at least he thinks it is. Tears fall of his cheeks and hit the ground.
- Why!?
Steve cries to the sky. He stays there, thinking about his son for hours. For some reason no enderman is attacking him. Maybe they think he’s dead. Who knows, maybe he is dead, because the sufferinghe is in could only happen to the dead.

The dragon destroys everything. Every city, every empire. Only some villages remain. It returned to the end with his endermen. It is all Steve’s fault. He thinks he’s the only survivor. Everyone stayed with their families in the attack. Everyone but Steve, he ran away. He escaped to the woods.
He finds Alex in sitting under a tree, bleeding. Steve runs towards her. She’s breathing heavily.
- What happened?!
- An enderman, stabbed me with a stick. The irony.
- You will survive, don’t worry.
- No, you’ll survive, I need to take care of Notch wherever he is. Steve, always remember that I love you.
- I love you too. Tell Notch I miss him.
- I will.
Alex falls dead on the grass.
Steve now needs to survive alone in the world. Start from the bottom. He has nothing, there is no civilization, no nothing. He is now alone, and he only knows three things, everything he does, is for Notch. He hates Herobrine for what he did. And he needs to kill the dragon. Steve is the last Crafter, and he is a Mine Crafter.
