The third installment in the N00b's Guide series, Skinning.

.) Choosing an image: Never make your skins without a good image to draw inspiration from. Depending on the skin you'll probably want at least three or four to give it more detail. For example one for the front, one for the back, and more for details on shoes or whatever.

.) Never use Skincraft: You can only upload your own original content to this website and if you use Skincraft you will be reported and a moderator will remove the skin soon enough. It also doesn't provide a good 3D view and you'll find that once you upload the skin it is incomplete because Skincraft doesn't show you the full skin.

.) Stay true to the original: I can't tell you how many times I've seen people take characters and then change things in the skin because they like it better that way. This is inaccurate and will only push people away from your skins.

.) Include a picture in the description: All you have to do is copy the url from a good base picture you used and then paste it into the description with the little Insert Image icon up there. This helps people see all the details you added (hopefully) and how similar it is (if it isn't don't upload it).

.) Use the real colors: Most people just use the basic colors provided in the skinning program, and it looks so much more realistic when you use the exact same colors as the game or movie or whatever. All you need is the free program Paint.net and a picture. Open up the saved picture and your skin in Paint.Net. Use the color extractor on the picture then paint your skin with the now correct colors.

.) Shade: This is what gets people to click on your skins, but remember there is such a thing as too much shading. Just use your brain and make areas lighter or darker if they should be. You can even use the picture to do this.
