A N00Bs Guide to Minecraft!
Introduction:
You first night. Everyone remembers theirs. Mine was spent in a dirt house, on a hill. I joined Minecraft in Beta_1.4. The good old days, back then, creepers were friendly, zombies came out to play, skeletons were playing poker. But these days, death. Chaos. Havoc. These mobs destroy your world and bring chaos and disastors to your land. So the first thing to do, build a shelter. Most noobs at Minecraft start off by fighting the creatures with feathers (which they think are knives) and end up spawn dying. In this guide, it will teach you how to make a shelter, craft tools and items, build a fortress, and much much more!
Biomes:
When you have created your new world, and waited 30 minutes for it to load, you will spawn in a Biome. Biomes are types of environments in which different mobs, blocks, and dungeons will spawn! Here is a few of the different Biomes which are most common in the world of Minecraft:
Desert: This Biome has millions upon millions of sand dunes. Unlike real life, you cannot slide down these dunes and get your bum all wet, but instead, harvest them for their sand. Sand can then be smelted to make glass!
River: One of the most common Biome. Many minecraft players think that this is not an actual Biome, but guess what, it is. This Biome is around 10-30 blocks wide and is most commonly found between other 2 Biomes. In this Biome, squids spawn. This mob can be harvested for its ink to make black wool.
Ocean: The largest Biome of them all. Sanning from around 400 x 300 blocks, this Biome can grow to truely astonishing sizes. If you are ever looking for Squids, or other Mobs which spawn here, just have a quick look and hey presto!
Jungle: Probably the rarest of the Common Biomes. This Biome can spawn ocelots, which can be later on tammed to cats, and the trees produce something called Cocoa Beans. No, these cannot be made into chocolate, but you can make Cookies. This food item restores 1 hunger bar.
Plains: A very common Biome. Spawning all sorts of animals from Pigs to Cows. It also sometimes grows Flowers and Plants. This Biome is very good to live in for the following reasons: A good wood supply (usually), Food from the animals, and Water Ponds everywhere.
Extreme Hills: This Biome is exactly as it sounds. Massive mountains, sky-high trees, but unfortunately no Volcanoes. This Biome can still spawn a wide range of animals, and hostile creatures, so beware!
First materials:
So once you have explored a little (don't go too far from spawn, otherwise you will loose your area/house), its time to make a shelter. This involves:
