A Haiku is a traditional Japanese form of poetry. The Western interpretation of which exists of 5 - 7 - 5 syllables for each line respectively.

Aside from the syllables rule, there's more to Haiku's. They normally have a seasonal word, but what I find most enchanting about them is that they describe an environment, feeling or situation very effectively while leaving out any kind of judgement or lesson. It's like the Haiku can capture the essence of a moment. Much like an impressionist painting could.

Recently I learned about Haiku Suites when looking for writing contests on the internet. A Haiku Suite is a set of 3 to 6 Haiku's that are connected in some way or another. I ended up writing a Haiku Suite for this contest, in Dutch. With the Summer Vacation event having started just recently, I figured; why not translate it to English and share it on Planet Minecraft too! \o/



To write these Haiku's, I took a short walk. It was a very warm day but there was also a soft refreshing breeze. I hope my poetry captures my experience well.

I often walk across this same path, sometimes alone but most of the time together with _Phrozenbit_. There's a sandy path beside the waterway behind our home which is perfect for stretching one's legs and pondering the meaning of life. 😂 The featured photo is of this place. It's also the place I find the glass and ceramic shards for my mosaics.
