Aethier Roleplay Server

The review for this server is going to be a little bit different than most of my usual reviews, this server is a server that I regularly play on, and would publicly like to say that it is the main server that I play on. Should you like to join this server and play with me, that's fine : )

I've never done a review on a server that I regularly play, so we will have to see how non-biased I can stay with this review.

From what I remember of my first impressions, I had joined the server when there weren't many people online. I was welcomed, and directed to the nearest town, and it was easy to find certain parts of pointless non-developmental roleplay but if you wanted to get your character anywhere you needed to OOCly know someone, or OOCly ask.
The towns were a tad confusing, I didn't know where to go in order to travel city to city, because on this server they utilize the system of waypoints. This system makes it so if you want to go somewhere you either A) take a carriage or ship, which dont always exist for ever town, or B) walk all the way there and then access the waypoint for later use, but it costs 200 in game credits to travel via waypoint, which isn't too bad. You can get more than that daily via votes, so I don't see it as a problem.

For the first month or so I played diligantly, attempting to snag roleplay, until I became involved in one of their events, which was a plague event. My character is a doctor character, who I have been religiously solo-RPing her learning her skills all this time, since regular RP was so hard to find.
This plague brought me RP because I met a town owner in the tavern who then gave me the plague, by accident of course, and lead me to his town to run his very small hospital. For the next week or two my reclusive character only worked with those infected by the plague, trying to keep their symptoms down and scurrying about her small hospital.
I missed the final even that defeated the forces causing the plague, but a mass cure was given out, of course it was absolutely disgusting, and a lot of people had already died from the plague, but it was useful.

I was pleased with this event and I continued to develop my character from here, she was involved in a  lot of roleplay onc she joined this town, and eventually she gained magic. But it was at this point that I found myself growing bored, I was not receiving developmental roleplay, events created by players didn't often happen or didn't include my character, and the things that I had to go on would be things that my character would not do. Essentially, I was limited to how many of these players I knew OOCly as to whether or not I would receive roleplay.
I stopped playing for a few months here, but I eventually came back, and things started looking up. The server had changed a few of it's staff members, one or two of them remembered me, I got my position as doctor back, and the situation with roleplay had gotten better with a larger pkayer base. From that point on I continued my solo-RP development of my character's skills, but she became more and more involved witht he world as more and more people began to figure things out about her.
Now I regularly receive deep and developmental RP, but I still believe that it may be based upon a "Who do you know OOCly" status. As new players come in, I see them wander around the main city and ask how to travel, where do they go for RP? And people will answer their questions but often do not actually direct them.
The main problem that I see here, is that the server's main city is no longer the main city, it is the Server's only city that isn't made by players, and none hardly visit it for roleplay anymore, so the new players join and their first impressions is:
"Why is it so hard to find RP?"  ... Well, if they join the teamspeak, they would find an abundance of joyful help and happy attitudes, but it seems that this is not found just on the server, but in the teamspeak. Improvement here could be the key to keeping new players.

So, all in all, this server is obviously an enjoyable server. Yes, their staff is a little disorganised and their World is so developed that players have outshined the server's main build itself, but I don't think that's entirely a bad thing.
Of course, when new players join, especially if they have read my review, I will help them get into the RP hotspots for sure ; )

   So~

Server IP:  mc.aethier.co.uk

I do not mean any of what I say to come out as discouraging, harmful or in any way insulting. My reviews are based solely on the outlook of the player, and therefore I express my full and honest opinion, this is all constructive criticism that I hope the Owner will take into consideration, these issues that I have now brought to their attention may be resolved, and will most likely boost their amount of players after such repairs have been made. I do not mean for what I say to blacklist the server in any way, this is why my reviews are done strictly on the First impressions os the server, I do not do reviews on the staff attitude, nor player base, and I do not spend any long period of time playing the server. Thank you for reading,

Your Truthful Pirate,
