In mine craft choosing who is reliable and who is not is a hard decision, but there a few things that can help you a little but.

  1. Factor in age. Although age should not be a limiting factor, if someone is to young, or to old. They may not be able to see things how you see them and become unruly. Try to pick someone who is around the same age as you and has the same views.
  2. See what they can do for you. Before you promote someone solely on what they tell you they can do, issue a series of tests that proves they are reliable and good a problem solving. For example, having someone set up a plugin is a test i like to use because 1. I don't like to do it and 2. It requires focus and problem solving skills.
  3. Make sure they are rational. When promoting people you don't want to choose someone who has anger problems or is to nice. You want to find someone in the middle who think things out. Being to mean could result in them banning people for no reason, and being to nice could result in people creative havoc while you admins just sit around. Neither of these 2 options are favorable so try to find someone in the middle to avoid conflict.
  4. Choose someone who is loyal. If someone is not loyal the may not trust you and follow your commands. This could result in some pretty serious problems, such as arguing in front of members or causing unneeded stress in the server.
  5. Promote people who play a lot. If you choose people who play a lot to be staff you wont need to have as much therefore controlling your staff will be easier. Pick people who will at least be on for an hour everyday.
