If you don't already know, a Minecraft mod is a ''modification'' to the game and can easily be created with a little bit of knowledge and programs...In this word by word tutorial i will be showing you, this reader, how to make a mod at the age of beginning...In this ''basic mod'' tutorial i will be showing you the basics of editing a crafting recipe with little knowledge.

First of all we can't start making a modification without any programs to read the .java classes and the .class classes. So you will need a language coding program (here is a list of some)

1.notepad++ is a basic coding language that i personalty think is the best and the most basic for beginners.

2.eclipse is also a coding language but not that basic...You need to know what the heck you are doing before using this...But it has WAY more things then notepad++ but notepad++ still is the best one for beginners because you don't need all the eclipse stuff for now...

There are many many more but those are the 2 best so far...Any way let's get back to the subject.

After installing all of this you may ask ''what do i do now?'' But don't be scared, there is a new thing you must download called ''Minecraft coder pack'' or ''MCP'' Short for [M]inecraft [C]oder [P]ack witch is basically the folder where you are gonna be making your mods ect...(download it here)

When you are done downloading the latest version you are done downloading all this freaking stuff! Now you must extract the download file (If you don't know what im talking about you need to download another program called ''jzip'') When you are done extracting it, it should look like this:
grhIFpng

If it looks 100% like that you did it right! first of all go to run in the search bar for your computer then go to %appdata% and then .minecraft then copy these folders ''Bin'' and ''resources''..After all that copy them to the jar folder in the NCP folder you just downloaded! Now click on ''decompile.dat'' A black screen should pop up and it should take about 4 minutes for it to finally say ''Done'' and about 5 files will be added to the MCP folder.

That is all you need to do to set up the mcp files to finally start your mod...click here for part 2
