Creative mode

Ever since the 1.8 update I've always wanted to know what people thought of the fairly new Creative mode which was added into the 1.8 update, along with the villages, strongholds, mineshafts, new blocks and new items. So I thought I'd put up a blog and let people comment on it.

In my opinion I think that the creative mode is a great addition to the ever growing legend that is Minecraft. It allows people to test out their ideas. For me it helped me build an underwater base (however basic it may be), a piston and redstone operated lift (ever since that day I get a headache whenever I see redstone) and an oil rig (I had buildcraft installed and I had managed to find oil at sea. Very good mod by the way). Now this is extremely helpful when setting up a server or when your making an adventure map, because if you make a mistake, you can solve it with just a hit from the back of your hand. Another thing it helps you do is explore worlds and check out if you've got a good seed and help you find those elusive strongholds, the abandoned mineshafts and the NPC free NPC villages.

Now, you might call me old fashioned but I do think that the creative mode might also give you too much power. I mean, destroying the toughest blocks in one hit, an infinite amount of items and the ability to fly! I think that this distracts people from the original purpose of the game, good old survival. Also, this new game mode has made some mods useless, leaving the developers with something that no one will need, making them have to start on a new one. For example, the too many items mod, it can still be used in survival and is needed if you want to use the blocks/items added from various mods you might have installed, but it isn't really needed any more, soon, when Mojang add official mod support, it won't be needed. The same goes for fly mods and plugins(used for servers). I used Zombe's fly mod, but now I don't need it because I have creative mode, the other mods can still be used, but the fly mod has been made obsolete. The new creative mode has pretty much gone up to the mod developers (these guys and girls(?) really are the best) and to get lost.
