I've been playing Minecraft for a rather long time. However, I wonder why all the updates and rushes to add all these new items, mobs, ect.... when there are still some pretty nasty bugs in the game. There are still in fact some nasty memory leaks. Yet, the priority is to push more content. My question is why.... why wouldn't you want to fix the problems at hand, before adding in potentially more problems?

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that new content is being added. It's just that there are already so many issues with the game, that it gets a bit rough trying to juggle them all and keep a server stable sometimes. One thing I didn't understand, is why they didn't fix the memory issues, and make the coding more efficient, before adding in more things.

An example of this... The adventure update was cut into multiple parts. Why? Why not just code the entire thing, do extensive testing on it, then release?

This would help server owners by doing the following:
Not having to generate a new map for the new content each new update.
Not having to deal with people getting mad about losing stuff from a new map.
Not having to worry about updating plugins and configurations constantly for new updates.
Not having to look for plugins to disable new things in updates that do not pertain to their server type.
Not having to watch for even more people doing new exploits/bugs/cheats/mods
Not being forced to use another newly generated map WITH the previous map just to make players happy.
Not having to worry about new cheat clients coming out that can completely damage a server.

This would help developers by doing the following:
Not having to update constantly to fit the new content.
Not having to deal with changes constantly in API
Not having to deal with people begging for updates the second a new update for minecraft happens.
Not having to code new plugins to stop new cheats and exploits or mods.

What I am getting at is this. If the time that was spent with all the problems that have been EVENTUALLY resolved mainly by plugin developers, (thanks to the guys who bust their fingers to help) was spent more toward extensive testing by the mojang programmers themselves. They would have had a finished product to do a single release on, and not have to worry about constant reports of new bugs or problems that need be fixed.

Now don't get me wrong. I understand there are people out there that enjoy testing the new content and helping. The problem lies with the fact that there are parts to the update. Which means server owners will constantly have to keep updating, wreaking havoc on the server owners. Leaving them less time to work with their staff and play with their players.

Again, we all love Minecraft. It's truly a work of art. It's so simple yet so fun. There are so many things that can be added to make the game that much better. I just wish that the coding was easier on the systems they run on. Perhaps even one day we will see Mojang recode minecraft into C++ or Maybe even see it go into a more graphical age. An example of having to move your mouse in a way that you would motion for digging or mining. Hammering nails into boards. Perhaps a better physics engine in the end, where lets say a creeper blows off the support pieces of a corner, bringing a big portion of your house down. There are so many different kinds of ideas that could REALLY change the face of minecraft. Would I love to see this happen? YES OF COURSE! Would I be mad if it didn't? No, as I enjoy minecraft just as much as the next person.
