The Enderman is like slenderman. Slenderman stands around small children 4/5 yrs old and kidnappes them. So Enderman takes blocks instead of children.If you stare at enderman he stares back at you and if you look away he runs at you and if you get away from him he teleports to you and kills you.

they dont drop diamonds they sometimes drop ender pearl

Well they used to drop diamonds but in 1.8 and higher they drop ender pearls. since 1.0 they also have a function: if you throw them (right click) you will be teleported to the block it lands on. HOWEVER it will give you 2 And a half heart damage. when you teleport you will emit the same purple particles as endermen emit when they teleport or walk around.
