Endermen Particles

This is more of a question then a blog, but, does anyone know much about the purple portal-style particles emitted by Endermen? I was wondering if they are just the portal particles reused, or if they have a separate image associated with them. I was a big fan of the 1.8 pre-release Endermen, with the green eyes and the black smoke particles, and would love to texture the Endermen to look like that again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid it uses the particles image in the gui folder....

and that goes with all particles that are shaped like the white particles shown in the picture....

coding makes the particles from different things a certain color when its those kinda particles.
