Extremely bad minecraft quality

HELP!

I am extremely annoyed by how minecraft looks so bad on my computer. And no, it is not supposed to look this way. Like, the aliasing is HORRIBLE! It's like impossible to read names when they're more than 10 blocks away! Can someone help me!?

hmmm, perhaps its due to the resolution your using vs the kind of OS your running(windows xp, vista)
