Introduction:

I have seen too many players playing faction servers without even knowing what they are playing, so hopefully these couple of tutorials should help actually quite a bit, first off, defending your home, as you know, you need to protect your stuff very tightly in a faction server, here are some ideas I've seen and tested on faction servers.

1.Cover it with water:
I see so much people making this mistake, people think obsidian covered base is a un-raidable base, thats actually quite wrong, because of obsidian's properties, alot of servers now have "obby breaker" which no longer allow these OP form of bases, and I discovered DIRT or any other material covered in water is actually better defense then obsidian. Another reason not to use obsidian is that they can flint and steel your room and every block would be a nether portal......

2.Make it underground?
I know some people like surface homes or have a ladder connecting your underground home to the surface, that is very risky considering people can tnt into whatever you have on the surface, and so you should hide your chests underground, and personally I don't know if this helps to cover your chests in wtaer (just something I do). Even a Ladder means that they may get into your underground base! which enables them to overclaim you or just spawn kill you and tp more people here, resulting in a very bad situation......

3.Traps
Alot of simple redstone traps can actually stop alot of people from getting into your well earned loots, because for instance when I was raiding someone I was sprinting very fast down a 2 block high mine and I heard a click, next moment I fell into a lava pit, so always set up traps like that, since they cannot break blocks in your territory, a 2 block high mineshaft with a simple stone pressure plate and lava pit would be very helpful and deadly.
