Hello and welcome to this tutorial! The title was too short to really make sense, so I'm gonna explain it better here. Imagine you are in a survival world and spawn in a tricky biome to build a nice house in. You don't wanna go too far from your spawnpoint, and you still need a shelter. What do you do? Answer: Use this tutorial to build a clever house fitting in with the biome! Ok, gonna start the biome list now:

Plains: If you spawn in a plains biome - lucky you. Plains are flat and perfect for building, although finding wood might be a little hard sometimes. There are occasional trees though, and forests are usually quite close. Build anything you want! If no trees are available and the sun is setting, you could always try finding a village - they are quite common in plains.

Desert/Mesa: Deserts are also very flat and nice for building, but the problem is that they can be HUGE and there are no trees. Ouch. Villages are quite common though (in normal deserts), search around the spawn a bit to see if you find a village. If you do - perfect. If you don't, it will get a little harder to survive. In case of emergency (i.e. sunset on Easy+ and no shelter) punch down some cactuses and build a little wall around yourself. Underground emergency shelters are NOT recommended - sand will fall down on you if you're not careful.

Jungle: Might seem like the worst biome to spawn in ever, but don't worry. Even though the terrain is annoying as pancakes, there is plenty of wood. Get a few stacks of planks by chopping down trees, then climb up on one of the really tall trees and build your house on top of it. And bam! - you have a nice jungle shelter.

Forest/Pine Forest: A whole lot of building materials, but not really a lot of space to build on. You could chop down a few trees if you just want a small house, but that takes time without a good axe and on the first survival day time is money. Some forests can also be very dense, and it's hard to spot creepers hiding behind trees. I would therefore recommend to build your shelter on a tree instead of on the ground. Mobs can't spawn on leaves, so that makes it harder for mobs to kill you too.

Tundra/Taiga (snow): Taiga biomes are just pine forests with some snow on, so look at the above paragraph instead. Tundras, however, are more like snow plains. Flat, but with very few trees. If you spawn in a tundra and you see no trees in the area, it can be very hard to survive. The best option would be digging down and staying in a hole overnight, if you want a safe but very boring solution. If you started with a bonus chest and already have a shovel, igloos are always an option :)

Extreme Hills: Finding wood might be a problem sometimes, but since 1.7 pine trees sometimes spawn on mountains. Building the house on a quite tall mountain with a flat top would perhaps be the best choice. Be careful when building close to the edges - you might fall. If you are a little more adventurous or want something different, try building parts of the house into the mountain itself.

Mushroom Biome: The chance of spawning in a mushroom biome is very, very, very tiny, but just in case. There are no trees, and mushroom biomes are often islands so the chance of finding wood isn't big. However, red mushrooms with the stem removed make perfect first-night shelters!

Mega Taiga: COMING SOON! (I haven't had any experience with them yet, lol)

Savanna: COMING SOON!

There are probably other biomes i've forgot. Write in the comments if you know any! This is a WIP, but feedback is still appreciated.
