Hey guys!
This is my first PMC Server review, on a recently opened server, FoxCraft! I was scrolling through the servers when I came accross FoxCraft's submission which appealed to me initially by having a very simple, yet effective banner on their listing. After seeing the only screenshot of the server on their post, it didn't appeal to me as much, but I decided to continue into the actual server anyway.
FoxCraft is a Bukkit PvP server which opened approximately a week ago (as said by an Admin) so I had a quick browse through their plugin list and discovered they had quite a lot of plugins that people are familiar with.
These plugins included:
- iConomy (also linked to mobs, so when you kill mobs you get money)
- Essentials (a whole load of commands)
- LWC (Chest protection - probably one of the mont popular protectors...)
- MobArena (Where groups of players can fight mobs together in an Arena)
- LogBlock (Anti-Grief plugin)
And finally, Factions. In my history with servers I've never really come across Factions, so this was probably the second or third time I've ever used it and it seemed very useful for keeping Spawn a non-pvp zone and the outside world a pvp zone, which is helpful when one tries to read the Server Info before jumping into the action.
The server also had a Jail building, which is a nice touch as I think it's better than a Temp-ban for those pesky people who try and get on people's nerves. They're just thrown in a cell and muted. Simple and effective. The server's community was very large, an esitmated 20 - 35 people were online and active at the time I logged in and there was a good group of people fighting in the Mob Arena. So it certainly isn't a boring server for the aspiring fighter. The Admin online seemed keen to answer my questions and he tried to communicate with everyone which I thought was impressive; I've been an only Admin online within a server of 15 online users and that was a challenge, never mind 1 Admin out of 35 online users. Well done that man!
In conclusion, as a recently-opened PvP-based server it's seemed to have grown rapidly. It could have used some more buildings as it was a bit plain. If the owner reads this I might suggest just some decorative buildings? Obstacle courses, marketplaces, etc.?
