Today I will be interviewing: LithiumSedai

1. What is your favorite minecraft block?
Chiseled Quartz block. I've used it on so many occasions; basically, if I can decorate something with it, I will! It has a fancy feel attached to it, in my opinion.
2. What inspired you to make your name "LithiumSedai?"
In 2010, after a team I was in disbanded, I felt like I needed a new name to distance myself from everything that followed. A chemistry lesson made me think about using Lithium as my name, since it sounded quite good. After I started reading The Wheel of Time, I added Sedai (derived from Aes Sedai (Servants of All) - an organization of spellcasters) to my name to make it more recognizable, and it stuck around until I got a Minecraft account and all that.
3. Why did you start making skins for both yourself, and other people?
I thought it would be fun to make myself a Wheel of Time skin, after I couldn't find too many on Planet Minecraft, a site I used to occasionally visit back then. I really liked the result, and decided to make an account and share Wheel of Time skins with other fans who might need them. Eventually I started improving and working on other skins. You can still see my first skin on the site and I don't plan on removing it, because I want it to remind me of my progress and my initial goal.
4. How often do you upload skins?
It depends. When I was really active on the site, it took me three days to a week to come up with a skin idea and get it done. Sometimes, however, it takes me a month to get into skinning mood, though I still make sure to try something new every time I make a skin. Also, if there are many popular suggestions, I try to make them as soon as possible.
5. Who has been your biggest skinning inspiration so far?
I've always looked up to Teddy and Leostereo, two amazing skinners. The former crew of PMCSA and my fellow contest judges have also influenced my work, and when it comes to the 1.8 format, I think Kefka is someone who can pull it off quite well and therefore provides me with an incentive to improve.
6. What are your two favorite colors to skin with?
Various shades of yellow and red seem to suit me the most. I only wish I could use my favorite color more often (it's purple, by the way!)
7. Do you have any siblings?
I have a younger brother, who also loves Minecraft, although he frequents servers I'm not interested in (and to be honest, I don't play much on public servers too). I've been trying to get him to pick up skinning, though!
8. If you think you could describe yourself in two words, what would they be?
Now that's a hard question. I would say I'm very patient, and people seem to claim I'm friendly too, so I'll believe them :p
9. What do you think is your favorite/most sucessful skin?
My favorite skin is Rand al'Thor, the protagonist of The Wheel of Time. Along with Lilly Satou, it's a skin I personally use and constantly try to improve (though I avoid making anything I wouldn't use myself, if it's not a contest skin or a request). However, my most successful skins are the Terran Marine and Drillhead. The Marine was a 1.8 experiment that really caught the attention of the community, while my Drillhead skin was very successful in the Underground Creatures contest.
10. When did you first start both traditional, and digital art?
Save for a few drawings I did in 2012/2013, I rarely do traditional art. I had much more time to draw as a kid; now, not so much. I started skinning in late 2012, and since then I've also worked on some pixel art project. I still have lots to learn, though!
11. What is your favorite video game character?
Lina from Dota 2, although she's not my best hero. Champion of Cyrodiil from TES IV: Oblivion and Corvo Attano from Dishonored also come quite close.
12. What really got you into Minecraft?
The opportunity to build anything I want: castles, cities, ships. More specifically, the video of a Tar Valon reconstruction in Minecraft got me interested.
13. Do you specialize in any sport?
When I was younger, I used to train basketball and had lots of time to play it with my friends. Now there is little time to do that, even during the summer holidays, and I'm kind of rusty now :p
14. What is your favorite thing to do on weekends?
Sleeping is a priority! Other than that, I love having time to hang out with friends and to play games without feeling pressured by school.
15. What is your least favorite thing about Minecraft?
Creepers and redstone. I've never been able to make efficient redstone circuits, and they keep adding new stuff to the game, making it harder to learn! I guess I'll just stick to building and skinning :p
