When playing minecraft at this current time, it keeps freezing. It is really annoying. Is anyone else having these problems? do you know how to fix it?

Many servers that I am playing on currently are lagless. this is not the case for me though; I get less than 10 fps on most servers, on others only about 4-6. if anyone knows how I can fix this, it would be a great help.
