Building Power
Some may think that trying to build EU so early on is silly, and that I should focus on more basic needs. However, With a maceration, you double your ores. The 41 Tin Ore I found becomes 82 Tin Ingots. In addition, one of the early modes of transportation, rails, requires creosote. Creosote, is made with either coal or wood. It takes a TON of creosote to build any length of track. So it benefits everyone to stop "wasting" coal to do simple tasks like smelting.
Also in addition to creosote, there's coal dust, which is the base ingredient in nano-suites (later on) and solar panels. Coal is a valuable resource and should not just be used as a fuel source.
Also it's better to do the power generation in town. Lava doesn't loose it's potency the further it travels but EU does. Pipes are also cheaper then wires. Two stone, 1 glass, and 8 cacti = 8 water proof pipe. The same 8 block distance would require 6 copper and 8 rubber. Rubber is always in short supply. Also with EU you have to "boost" the signal ever so often or nothing will make it to town.
Like I said, you need waterproof pipes to move the lava into town, and that means a great mass of cacti. To find cacti I need to find a desert. If I am going to the desert I am going to want to get some sand as well, and that's where backpacks come into play. A backpack lets you carry specific items in it, expanding your inventory. I haven't even seen a desert in Fuga yet, so I am assuming I am going to have to travel a bit. Unfortunately, I don't have all the materials to build a backpack, but I have most of them the rest I will gather along the way.

Shortly after setting out I came across this nice little village(this is a different one then the one near spawn, I was surprised to find it so close). The villagers had never heard of a desert but were more then happy to give me some iron armor pieces. They did have a dungeon nearby that kept sending out angry zombies, but I took care of that for them and was able to spend the night in town.

The next day I set out again and found a pretty huge oil flow. That will come in handy a little later. However I will need cacti to pipe it anywhere so, back to the hunt for a desert.

As night fell I came across another village. This one on the edge of a swamp. I logged there for the night and figured that I would need to cross the swamp to get cacti. Let me tell you, that city planer should be fired. Everything was flooded. Someone should tell the villagers not to build on the mushy swamp land. Wasn't going to be me though. There were nice enough to give me a few books.
When I set out in the morning I found a huge stand of rubber trees. I got about 23 sticky substances and two stacks of rubber wood. I also happened to snag about 20 saplings. That should be enough to transplant rubber production closer to town. Unfortunately I spent the entire day getting rubber so back to the flooded village to sleep another night.

On the fourth day, all soggy and weighed down with rubber trees I found yet another village on the edge of a desert (Village not pictured, I was just happy to see some sand). I didn't see many cacti, but at least the village provided a safe place to sleep the night, before heading into the desert to get cacti. Odd thing though. The village was empty. Not a villager to be found. Still was comfortable to sleep in.
On the fifth day, I headed into the desert to find some cacti. I also wanted to grab a ton of sand so I could actually use glass on occasion. Inventory full of cacti and sand I rest in the nearby village before heading back. I was a full 1300 meters from my home, but I was hoping I could cover that in a day now that I knew exactly where to go. I couldn't.

I did find some Basalt cobblestone on the way, but but my inventory was full. I will have to come back for that when it's needed. Once I got back to town, I started turning what I thought was a large amount of cacti into pipe waterproofing. Man was I wrong. Before I completed the pipe it took me 4 more trips to the desert to gather cacti. We are certainly going to have to transplant this resource before we build another long waterproof pipe. I even ran out of sand.

Digging the path for the pipe wasn't fun either. I did find a lot of ores, and the path will get reused when rails go in as a quick way to get to Initium Mine, but that was just plain dull. Not much to say, just dig in a line the turn. I used 4 Chunk loaders along the way (remember more smaller chunkloaders are better then 1 large one, specially if you can restrict the chunks to just what you need).

With the geothermal generator in place, and a tiny little tank to buffer the lava, it was time to get to building the actual building. The Macerator and the electric furnace provided the means to double my ores to the point I was able to build decent EU storage. Of course the machines had to sit right next to the generator for now.

The extractor provided rubber, thanks to the luck in the swap, and the copper from digging the pipe tunnel provided plenty of wires. The macerator helped create enough tin to make 6 BatBoxes.

Move the junk out of the way and get the battery boxes into a wall and your left with a power plant with two sections. An input section, and an output section. 5 BatBoxes store the towns power and act as a buffer. The one bat box acts as a regulator, and makes sure that the entire town (for right now) only runs on 32 EU/t. Why place such a restriction? Because it helps make sure that we don't burn any wires or blow up any engines. Each building, or heavy duty machine will need it's own BatBox to buffer energy anyway. There will also be some BatBoxes in the path between the power plant and the end user (of the EU). As the city grows we will need to move to Medium Voltage and finally high voltage, but for now this will take care of our modest needs. More importantly, it's affordable. And yes, that is cobblestone. Sure, that will need an upgrade later, but for now I am just happy it's not wood.

One last thing, there's a small trap door that give access to the pipe path, should it be needed.

Quick Note: If you need cacti, never break the bottom block, they will grow back.
