Turtles are awesome. They do the long boring tasks so that I don't have to. A perfect job for a turtle is a semi-automated grove.
Here is a _kinda_ flat spot. And theres plenty of trees around so finding some starting saplings should be too bad. That said no one likes to just make a flat spot. In vanilla I must have spent 8 hours or more making a flat spot big enough for a tree farm. Well, we will just let a turtle do that this time.
Way to simple, go turtle go. I have no idea how long it took to finish. I started construction on buildings I wanted then just went and watched a movie. It finished though. Tree farms are very hard to get a good picture of, but here is one with one of the corners no yet planted.
Yes the trees are too close to get 100% of the saplings from, but I chose oak, because it provides TONS of saplings. Even with a reduced number of leaves to work with, it's self sustainable. It would pretty rough to walk though though. As for mobs, they can't spawn, it's too dense.
The tree farm produces about 8 full stacks of wood each full run. Thats plenty to meet our requirements. More "exotic" woods (like rubber) would need to have saplings supplied, but if you wanted to switch to something like birch, you could just give the turtle some birch saplings and it would replant.
