Please be patient if you're interested in the rest of the tutorial. The girls section will be elaborated on and I will
add the boys section when I get the time. Usually for me, that means I'll never finish it.

This is very cool and very (as Ponyhunter11876 said) informative. I just kinda skittered through it but i still like it.

-discodancer101
Hey Snowy - very informative. I like your points about making a good female skin. I will try to apply these tips in my next female skin. I would most appriciate it however if you could finish this with the male part since I need to practice with. I have favored doing female skins so far, and would like to familerize myself with how to do a male skin. Would be most appriciated! :)
how do you get cool text like that

I thought I may point out that women can view a larger color spectrum so a females skin may appear to have more colors to women. :)
Why you so smart?... D: Diamond! Your posts are always so organized... And pretty. <3
May you tell me where to get the girl skin, Snowy? Like I love the scarf and the belt

For me, it has to do with hair, and only hair... and the male or female check box when uploading it... Mostly because I am really lazy with shading, and when I try to change color scales and stuff the skin ends up looking orange or gray XD

I like the detail in your skinning. The only thing I disagree with is that I believe the guys should have warmer colors and the girls should have cooler. Don't know why, but I feel it fits better that way.

I REALLY hope you were being sarcastic. If you were not:
Oh, can it. Women have been asking for equality for hundreds of years. Well, they have it. But no, they want the man to be the only one that works and for them to be able to have the full rights of men without working properly. No. Most good women and girls are happy with the change now and work. Feminism is one of the dumbest things ever to walk the planet.

Fun fact: traditionally speaking, feminity is associated with dark, cold colors (yin, the Moon, darkness, with blue as 'female color' in Christianity) and masculinity is associated with light, warm colors (yang, the Sun, light, red as 'male' color).
Not that it matters--color theory thankfully doesn't depend on gender stereotypes, but perception. ;)

It's changing now, too. Which is a fantastic thing, because who the hell came up with the notion that feminity has anything to do with softness or gentleness? Feminity is about blood, pain and rage.
So. Fucking. Metal.

Well, personally I don't think that girls need to be shaded and different from guys. I mean, sure if the girl is wearing makeup they will be a bit lighter or whatever but I don't think there is anything wrong with shading a 'girl' skin exactly like a 'guy' skin.
A girl skin can have whatever shading you want, it doesn't need to be 'soft' or only 'warm colors.' The problem is that everyone on this site makes girl skins to be 'cute' and 'feminine.' What's wrong with having an awesome-looking, gruff, tough girl skin?

nothing wrong with that. There's plenty of skins like that on the site. However I did state that this tutorial was mainly for newer members who are only just starting to learn pixel placement and simple color theory. I personally do not like this style of shading much, I stick to a higher shift in hue, but it's there simply for informational purposes.
I've been searching for a skin like that, just a regular girl skin, but ones I've found aren't that good. I'm going to attempt making one soon.

Amazing, good job!
Speaking of warm and "girly" colours, there's something I haven't tried this on skinning, but it did look nice while drawing. For darker shades of skin colours (and I guess any other colour) instead of changing the lightness of the base colour you're using, you just saturate it and maybe move the hue a slight bit to red. I'd say it would look good if you're going for a more playful and saturated skin, plus, you can try different shades (orange, red, pink, purplish-red, stuff like that looks lively).
