Everyone knows, or has once known, that one annoying kid on the server that you know griefs but never gets banned. He comes up with lame excuses you know aren't true about why/how he griefed. "I thought this was my house", "but you kicked me from the faction", "But it wasn't in the rules". This is exactly what happened with me. I joined a faction server a couple of months ago and within a week created a faction. The only members of the faction at the time were me and my friend. Eventually, however, after seeing my creations the owner decided to join. This of course made everyone else want to join as well. After a few randoms began joining I set the faction status to invite only and made requirements for joining the faction. I made rules also. Cutting to the chase, after a while I accepted a member even though he didn't meet ANY of the criteria on the faction requirements just because I was trying to be nice. He, time and time again, broke rules without my permission. He /sethome in a restricted area of mine that I told him he couldn't be in. He stole from chests containing items only I was allowed to have. After the fourth time this happened I decided to put away the happy face and kick him. He did exactly what the stereotypical griefer would do and, you guessed it, made lame excuses. He blamed it on his brother for getting on his account, going to my home only a few people knew the location of, stealing from my items, and re-setting his home. Yeah, I'm sure his brother hated me that much even though we have never talked to each other. I ignored anything said for a couple of days, up until today, because I wanted nothing to do with him anymore. Today, I talked to him for a second and he asked me if I was still his friend-I never was his friend. I responded saying "I am not your friend nor you enemy". He took that offensively of course and called me a "mean person". He said from now on he was going to ignore me. I acknowledged that and was actually glad to find out that he would not try to talk to me anymore. He did though. He asked me why I had kicked him and I said "I don't care if it was your brother who broke the rules, I saw (his name) do it so that is who I kicked, I have nothing against you." He still didn't understand and proceeded to call me mean. I went back to the area he had griefed previously and found that he had griefed AGAIN. The grief was a miserable fail because we had an anti-grief plugin at the time, but that doesn't change what he attempted to do. I put out the fire and restored the structure to what it was. I still cannot prove that he was the one who did it, but, come on. I will hopefully find out eventually through a block log or something, but I cannot get over how annoying this little twerp was. Did I do anything wrong? Was I too drastic? If you could do me the favor of leaving a comment below on your experiences or whether or not I made the right decisions, it would be appreciated.
