Hosting prices!?!?

I have owned many servers in the past few month and i watch as the pricing on minecraft servers only rise. I have to pay 40$ a month for a simple 2gb server, which i honestly think is crazy. If i had the power and money to make a company to host servers i would make them really cheap, but still be working very well. I just think that many hosters are loosing clients just because the cost is so high and they dont have the money or they just dont want to get/use all that money. Do you agree?

I have tried to make a company to host a server but the supplies are far to expensive and every hoster i talk to wont listen to me, i have even tried getting a job at one just so they could listen..... I keep trying and i hope that everyone else agrees and maybe we all can make a change one day.

I have used beastnode, and they showed me no respect, first it took them almost 5 days to answer a support ticket and then they talked to me said somethings they shouldnt have well end of story im not using them again.

Server prices have been dropping honestly, just not recently (think long ago)... Minecraft servers require a ton of resources compared to other servers, and when using bukkit they require lots of attention and love from admins.

Honestly there are ways to reduce prices that require lots of technical know-how, or even business knowledge to negotiate pricing. The industry does make a decent amount of money, but if everyone knew how to run there server without messing with the system then it'd be simpler, and I could bet prices would drop.

You realize to OWN a decent server these days that it's a couple grand per server right? Not too long ago it was 5 grand to OWN one. But you pay 40 dollars for 2 GB? Well guess what, server hosts have families to feed too.

dont understand what your trying to say but it is expensive honestly if i had the power to make a host i would make a cheap one..

Make one then. Go, now, buy the servers, and put food on the table for a family with "cheap" prices.

im to young to have a car :/, so i dont worry about gas, but i hate the server prices :/

In my opinion, the industry hasn't started competing pricewise, and there's almost an unspoken agreement to keep standard pricing. If you want really cheap hosts, look for places who aren't going for money. The BEST price you can possibly get would be $8/gig, and they're making less than a dollar a month off your server that way. I'd refer you to a website, but PMC wouldn't appreciate that.
