What you will need:
About 2 stacks of wooden logs -Cut down tree's dont craft them to planks yet!
About 5 stacks of wooden planks -Get leftover logs and place 1 in a crafting square, shift click, then click the pic of the planks.
A cobblestone axe (wont work with Stone only Cobblestone) -
C C C- Cobblestone
C S S- Stick
S
About 20 torches - 1 stick then 1 coal on top
A door -
P P P= Wooden Plank
P P

A Bed- Wool on the top planks on the bottom
A Furnace - cobble all around the edge of a crafting table
A Crafting Table - 4 wooden planks in a box shape
Some Chests- Like a furnace but with wooden planks You may need a double chest for 2x the space which is 2 chests placed beside eachother there is no way to stop that though :P
STEPS:
1. Build a base however big you want using wooden planks. Be wise, or you will need to get extra wood!
2. Build so the walls are 4 blocks high. Break 2 holes 1 on top 1 under for a door.
3. Now for the roof! You can either have a flat roof or triangular roof.
4. For flat its just fill up the gap above you with logs or planks your choice. Be sure to place torches or monsters might spawn in your home!
5. For triangular just put, well... Its kinda hard to explain just look at the picture-*I don't know where the picture will be because I'm typing and i got a photo of a roof of my home but I don't know where it will be placed? It is the only picture so you'll know!
6. Place the furniture where you want!
TIP: You can make another floor using ladders and making flat ceiling on the 1st floor! If you do the roof in triangular shape.
TIP: Create a mineshaft In or Outside of your house!
TIP: Make your home near a ravine, cave, exploring place at least!
Make the floor however you want.
