How to catch an X-Ray hacker. Below will list some evidence and ways to tell if someone is using X-Ray.
1. They will probably have a full set of diamond armor. But remember this! Just because they have a ton of diamonds doesn't mean they have x-ray! This has actually happened to me before. I was fighting some X-Ray hacker (I knew he was a hacker because he admitted it after this) and he knew NOTHING about pvp, so I ended up killing him with my iron gear. After that, I had a ton of diamonds and the owner banned me because he though I was the hacker. :/ Fail.
2. Mining Patters. If someone has X-ray, they will do one of two mining techniques. Number one is mining with the stair method and turning right or left randomly. Some actually do this without having x-ray, but only one in a thousand do it without x-ray. Number two is digging straight down. If you have ANY minecraft intelligence at all, you would NEVER dig straight down. That is, unless you have x-ray.
3. Their mines will be dark. Most X-ray hacks come with a night light so they don't need torches for mining. But, like number one, this is not always true. If they have a stair mine, if it's dark it might be a hacker mine. Some people can actually turn their computers to negative colors, so watch out!
4. They will see you. All the time. If they see you behind a wall because they see your name plate, they will continue looking if you start to hold shift. This is creepy. You can tell they're looking at you because they'll either be still or also be shifting as you are. They will also see chests, torches, doors, and stuff like that.

1. Yes lots of diamonds can mean hacks or they are just good at mining. Quantity does not equal hacks definitively.
2. While mining patterns is a good way to narrow it down some people actually do this based on chunks. Minecraft is a game and like any game you can predict where there is a good chance of ores spawning. But you won't know what ore it is till you get to it. I myself have done this many times and playing on a pixelmon server I end up finding a lot of useless ores often…. As for straight down, this can either be from hacks, noobishness, or a server that has keepinventory on and /back enabled meaning falling in a ravine is a plus.
3. Mining in the dark can just mean they went to the options .txt file and upped gamma to 1500+
4. Well if you are watching them like a server owner, odds are you got /v on. Meaning no name tag should be visible. If they still watch you when invisible then they probably have a mod that sees the other player. This can be avoided with a plugin that makes you invisible without packets or by going into spectator mode.
