Welcome to my first blog!If you have trouble getting a staff position on a server and/or not sure of what you must put in and demonstrate in your application, look no further because my guide will surely improve your chances of getting staff!
1.In your application, demonstrate your qualities. But they better be positive because NO decent server will hire an admin who is/immature/abusive/overall bad so thats why servers look for staff that are knowledgeable/experienced/mature who they believe will benefit their server. For example applying with something like "why i want to be staff: i want to be staff cuz it is fun and i can help ur server grow and so i can do dropaprtys and make all the players happy and i can be mature but i dont want to be cuz its not fun lol!!! thanks" NO. No server will ever hire that person with an application so bad a noob would not pick it. Instead go for an application like: I would like to be staff because I can really help the server player/staff alike with any concerns or problems they have. Furthermore, (see use connectives to illustrate your points and give off a good signal) I am experienced both in general Minecraft knowledge moreover, admin knowledge that you cannot live without for example (use examples to show what you would do in a scenario the rank requires) If there was someone breaking an important rule I would ban them and ban affiliates of the greifer to ensure they cannot cause any more harm and help the victims rebuild.
2. Knowledge is power. Use it wisely. Servers look for people with good grammar/spelling skills who show they are mature and not abusive and totally in control of the server. Note: having good grammar will severely increase your chance of getting staff because as I said before "Knowledge is power" and it especially is in a community where greifing and abuse are abundant so servers are more likely to pick a person with good grammar. Secondly, would you rather pick a person who applies like this "hi there i am good staff. i have been admin on so many servers and i can help this one to. i will help all players. Or an application that goes like Hello owner, I believe I should be a staff member because of my wealth of experience on running a server (include a example) having ran my own server I know what it is like. Moreover, I will be happy and willing to help any players with concerns/quieires. Now, lets be honest. Who would you rather pick if you were tasked with staff recruitment?
3. Do not harass the owner or pressure them into deciding on your app, give them time.
If you are refraining from telling the owner constantly about your application they will come to believe that you are less interested about playing on their server but more interested about getting staff, (owners will see right through you) instead of being desperate and stupid. Give the owner their time and space to carefully look over the application will demonstrate you have good qualities such as: patience, willpower and most important self control.This will highlight that fact you generally do not in a sense "care" so much for getting staff but just want to enjoy the server that they provide and in the end, i'm sure all owners will pick you over a fool who begs and begs. (keep in mind that asking them once to check it is fine, if they say they will. They will. They are only human, not a robot.)
4.Using a good template and showing you have covered a range of topics on your application, do not be narrow and leave the owner unsure of you application. Show them they need you for their server! That you're the best out there! Like using this template for example, its informative and explains alot

Your dedication:(BE DEDICATED do not login to a server, apply for staff then if in the first 5 mins of it not being decided upon leave. As I said before it will lead the owner to believe you just want staff rather than care for their server and will give you bad reputation.)
What input can you provide: (List what you can help the server with, now be truthful and do not cover things you cannot do for example: I can do plugins and I make my own plugins. Then if the owner asks you to create him one or link to your projects what do you do? It will make you look bad and like a liar which will put them off completely.(Do not mess with an owner, thats vital) if you can only help players then so be it, you can only do what you can do and thats it. To be honest you'll get picked over a cheating liar anyday.
Reason for applying:(List why you want staff and what you will do with it).
Why should we accept you?: (What makes you stand out from all of the other candidates, why are you special and more important to us than them? Show competitiveness and the strength to debate with other people about why you should be picked)
Extra information:(List any other key points of why you should be staff, and anything they have missed out.
Coming to the end of my first blog here is an application I wrote using the above template, what do you think and would you give me staff? (Bearing in mind I applied using this and I was accepted for staff)

Player managing skills:I believe I have very adequate player managing skills, having owned my own server with 20+ players on at a time I was able to keep all players happy and under control. Furthermore, I will make sure all players follow the rules with the utmost respect (Cause if they don't, then whats the point of setting them?) I will enforce the rules and make sure all players know of them and are willing to comply in accordance with them. I deal with players on a one to one basis and I can offer a wealth of experience as mentioned before, owning my own server.
Penalties you would give(Give examples): That depends on the offence, if they commit a minor offence such as spam or constant caps, I will mute them for 5 mins to give them time to cool down, if they still are not ready to calm down I will temp ban them for an hour so they can go sort themselves out. On the other hand, if it is a more serious rule like racism, sexism, or personal threats I will ban them without a moments notice, this is because I want to make sure the server has a fun community and a safe environment for people of all ages, ethnicity, backgrounds and creeds to enjoy.
Positions on other servers(currently): I do not have any filled positions on other servers at the moment so I can dedicate most of my Minecraft time to your server.
Previous positions: I have owned my own server, and I have been Admin/Moderator on other servers until something really unfortunate happens or the Owner can no longer carry on, forcing me to resign from my position and leave.
Time dedication daily:I can put in 3-4 hours a day but on the weekends this will be far more depending on my real life plans.But usually i'm very active.
What input can you provide:I can make sure the server runs smoothly as well as creating a safe environment I will make sure all players are happy and are having fun and will stop rule breakers from continuing to annoy people and offend rules on the server.
Reason for applying?: I have applied so I can help the server grow and somewhat blossom into a big fun and safe community, I have also applied to help you and the other staff as well as players with minecraft, having played since May 2011 I have a wealth of experience most of minecraft (excluding redstone) as well as having experience with owning servers and how to manage them.
Why should we accept you: You should accept me because well firstly, the effort and time I have put into my application shows that I am worthy of becoming staff and is willing to help, secondly you should accept me because I really feel I can help this server become 10x than the average server (Help wise, community wise and fun wise of course!. Finally, I should be accepted because of my experience, I mean I have been playing for two years i'm not gonna suddenly dissapear, I am always willing to help and be kind and respectful to all players.
Extra information:I live in London so would get on really well with people from around the Uk and can provide assistance to Uk players during timezones +5 it could be 5pm in the Uk and you would still be at school/college/work being unable to help so I am there to fill the gap.
