It is actually really simple to get more hearts.
Do /effect (playername) 21 1000000 (insert number from 0-255 here). This will give you tons of hearts in minecraft forever, until you die, though the hearts will be empty.
You can fill them up be regenerating health naturally or taking health potions. My favourite method of filling it up is doing /effect (playername) 6 10 10. This will fill up all the empty hearts.
