Ah, Minecraft Community Sites. Well, I say that as if there is more than two. The Minecraft Forums and Planet Minecraft. You've probably heard of them. I should at least hope that you've heard of Planet Minecraft. So you say you're thinking of making a Minecraft community site. Wait, you're not? Crap! Then why did I write all this!? Well screw it I'm making you listen to this anyway.

So you're thinking of making a Minecraft community site, whether you want to or not. The best way to make something good, is to just copy what other people have done and call it something new! I mean, it works for Apple, so it'll work for us, right? However, I have no idea what a Minecraft site needs, so we'll be "studying" Planet and Minecraft so we know what you should have on your totally real and not hypothetical site!

The first thing you're going to want is really basic texture from Minecraft. Pick one, now tile it and have that be your background. Done! And hey, if you're feeling really risky, add a simple fade to it. Make sure not to spend TOO much time on it! You wouldn't want to sprain yourself!

Your site is all about creating text and making a nice and easy interface for users to write in. So of course make this impossibly buggy. This keeps people on their toes from frustration! They never know if their text format will work or not! Make sure it never does, this way they'll spend more time editing and fixing your site's mistakes, which means more engagement!

And maybe if you're lucky, your users will write tons of complaints! User input is always a good thing. If you need help finding and example, just look at this very blog! I'm sure something around here is screwed up.

(Editor's note: I pushed "ctrl+z" a few times while writing this. This caused PMC to randomly delete parts of the blog. I had to re-do some parts 5 times.)

A good community is key, as they will keep the site alive. Now I know what you're thinking, you wish you didn't feel obligated to read all this crap. Wait what? Well you were SUPPOSED to be thinking about how to get a good community!

Regardless, the best way to get a community is by advertising! People LOVE ads. Trust me! Why do you think there's so many of them all over the place? It's because people just love them THAT much! Make sure post your site on forums, social sites, popular YouTuber's comments, IRC chats, and via Private Message. People LOVE getting Private Messages telling them to join a website. How do you think Planet Minecraft started? I guarantee it was PM advertising.

Having a good community is crucial! I mean, if you don't have one someone might make a post sarcastically making fun of your site talking about all it's flaws..... Wait

Your users need to have something keeping them compelled to steal other's work make new content, so add a leveling system that gives experiance for a new level when you post new stuff! What happens when you level up? Nothing! But it makes people respect you more!

I mean, maybe after a few more posts you could catch up to those people who have 5,179,874+ posts! You'll get there eventually! If you're enjoying the blog so far, make sure to give diamond! This gives me more experience to level up and maybe, just maybe, THAT user will finally give me the attention I've been begging for... Oh you don't know who I mean? Well, I guess that's for your imagination to decide.

Like I said, people can't get enough of ads! Make sure you fill every available space with little banner ads!

(Editor's other note: Most ads are shown based on your history and internet searches. I turned that off to capture these, though.)

Ads

Oooh, one is suggesting something sexual, that's something that MUST be good! But, they are pretty small...

Dang those are big ads

Oooh, perfect! That way your users can look at those nice ads instead of that boring web content.

D:

So there you have it! If you've properly followed and read through each step, you are now ready to start your site!
Wait, you never wanted a Minecraft site in the first place?
Why didn't you say so!?! I could have use that time to like... bake a Hot Pocket or something.

Did you find the hidden fox?

Disclaimer
Wait, stop typing that angry comment!
This was all just a joke! Well, most of it. This was all supposed to be sarcastic, and not meant to be taken seriously. For example, the tiled background looks great! And the leveling systems are meant to be fun, and they are! For the most part. Now, if you still feel like writing an angry comment, go ahead! But be sure to use lots of profanity! Also, take this pitchfork!

Wow! You got all the way to the end? Well, gee, thanks for sticking around for so long! For those who read the Ender Sword, I do have the next page coming! Here's a sneak peek!

Ender Sword Sneak Peek!

But seriously, thank you for reading! I assume since you made it this far you probably just skipped through most of it.
Untill next time, stay beautiful!

He's just a person, just as important as you, me, or any other user! :)

I get them often too. I wonder how much of a "game" it really is, haha

If you can provide a reproducable method for input issues, I can note them down to be fixed. We replaced all of the different custom textboxes with one unified box, and it has less issues than the prior one did, but there's none that are perfect. Don't blame PMC for this; it's a third party plugin.

If you want complete control with little to no issues, use the View Source button as it just provides you with a browser built-in textarea to work with.

The ads don't cover content, so the argument about "instead of the content" is a silly one. They're skin ads, meant to cover the boring areas that we have on the sides (so in theory, that's two birds of your arguments with one giant stone).

Perhaps. I'm not sure I really "get" the joke this time around, though.

Quite a few people make blogs with the same topic and idea.

You made it good. Not a huge fan of the quality of the blogs section, but if people want to make sarcastic articles on the site itself, this is how you do it.

Giving a diamond for the pitchfork jab at the ending. That one got me :P
