Hey guys! Please don't be to hard on me. This is my first blog so be kind. :)
1: Get the best hosting company:
Okay, so you're thinking of getting a Minecraft server. Well, before you buy one, look up at the top ten Minecraft server hosting company's.
2: Get staff:
This may be a hard one, getting staff can be tricky, cause there are some people out here that will just destroy a server when they get the chance. Now, if people really want to be staff, they will take time getting staff. People who want to grief the server, won't want to take time. So make sure to make them take time getting staff. Here's what I would do, is make a Minecraft site on enjin, and post on forums or what ever, a application forum. When they fill it out, tell them that you'll think about it in 2 or 3 days. If they complain, don't let them be staff. If they say okay, they will be your staff.
3: Be unique:
So, Iv'e seen lots of server that would just download a schematic or a world of a huge and amazing spawn, or building! Know what that is? That is LAME! And UN-UNIQUE! Don't do that! Why? People will get on the server and like it, okay, that's not so bad. But... When things start picking up, some higher people will come on, people who know how and where to get maps and such. They will see that and message lots of people or just one. And that person will tell others, and everyone will leave. Don't let that happen to you!
4: Make permissions:
Now, people like it when they see permissions in the server. Why? Makes the server look more professional and, it makes it where people will donate because they can get ranks instead of armor. So permissions is a good thing to have.
5: Advertise:
Now, advertising is your best friend, ever! It will make you the best server, ever. But! It can be really bad too, depends on how you use it. How to use it good: 1. Finish your server before you advertise it! 2. Fix out all the bugs before advertising. and 3. Make sure all your staff is good. How to use it bad. 1. Not finishing your server before it's done. 2. Not checking all the bugs. and 3. Not checking your staff. Make sure all these things are checked.
6: Don't abuse powers:
Last but not least. Don't abuse your power or have your staff abuse powers! This will destroy the server! So keep your eyes open for abusers! Get a good friendship with your players, so they can tell you if some one is abusing. If they are, deal with it. Ban them, and NEVER op a staff member that you don't trust 100%. If they still do abuse, it's your fault for oping him. Not mine. :)
7: Votifier:
Okay, one thing that will help out a server is votifier. Basically, what it does is when some one votes, they get diamonds or what ever you want, every time they vote. This will make a daily amount of votes on your server. Which will add more players to your server, then will add donors, then last but never least. Money.
