If you have problems getting back to a specific location, this information may help you...

My toughts

Many player may have found it hard to remember some specific locations, typically on servers where you can only set a few homes, which makes it a challenge to return afterwards. With the use of an book and quill, you can easilly save these locations by writing them down in a writable book. This will become very helpfull in the future if you are planning to return somewhere but can't remember where it was. The template under this text will show you how I do it:

§6[NAME]
§0===================§6Cordinates
X: §4______,__
§6Y: §4___,__
§6Z: §4______,__
§0===================§6World
Dimension: §4[NAME]
§6Biome: §4[NAME]
§0===================§6Area made by
§4[DESCRIPTION]

What does this template mean?

If you don't completely know what is written here, I can help you by saying the meaning of this...

First of all, the "§" letter with a number after it. This means that a custom font is triggered.
The "§4" means that the font is using red text, and the "§6" means that it'susing orange text.

Second, the line of "=" symbols separates the title you named the place, cordinates, world type and biome and the description you give it.

Third thing is to get on a safe location from any hostile actions you can avoid so that you can idle for a minute while writing down the cordinates. Cordinates are shown in the second section at the left top of the screen. Just look out for the X, Y and Z letters to find the location. (when you have wirtten the X and Z cordinates, type "50" after the the full cordinates with a comma first, example Z: -1337,50)

The fourth thing is that the marker that appears in front of the last letter you wrote in the book, can't go back without deleting the letters, so I recommend using a notepad where you have copied the template, writing the information down in the notepad, copy the whole text and just paste it in the book in the game.

And the fifth thing you shall remember. The book and quill has a limited amount of available letters that can be written in one page of the book. Because if the writing is too long to be pasted in the book, nothing will happen when you try to paste the information you copied from the book.

Now the last thing you shall not do, is to die with the book in your inventory. Because once the book is dropped, you have 7 minutes on you to get it back before it disappears. And even shorter time if you play on a server with ClearLag plugin installed that removed dropped items.

Cheats

If you are playing singleplayer, you can set a gamerule that you keep your items if you die. Cheating is a hard thing to do if you try to play legit, but the command for this function is "/gamerule keepInventory [FALSE/TRUE]". Setting it to false will disable the function to keep the items after you die, and the true fuction keeps your items after you die. But a few servers actually allow players to keep their items and xp when they die. One reason for this is because many players are ragequitting after they died with their good items.

Want to change text color and/or font type?

If you are one of those who wants to change the color of the text or the font type, you can use this minecraft color codes wiki to easier know what to type in the book, but remember, the "§" letter can't be shown in the book, and therefore must be typed in-game chat or other places.

Hope this helps you. :)
