How to show amount of durability left in tools

Its kinda hard to see exactly how much uses a tool or weapon has left just by the little bar. My friend and I discovered a way to see the amount of durability a tool has left. I use a mac, but it might also work on a windows.

So, for a mac, you press fn+ f3, and h. Again, I dont use a Windows so I dont know if it will work, but for a windows, you would probably press just f3 and h. Make sure you press the keys at the same time. Hope this helped some people, please diamond and comment if you have questions. :D

The texture pack used is faithful 32x32 by Vattic

Confirmed for Linux. Hold F3, then press H while holding it.
You can then release F3 and press it again.

Well, thank you for this tip. It does work for me, and I'm using a Windows 8. You can now tell all of those commenters that it DOES work. I just held down f3 and pressed H, no need to do them at the same time.
Again, thanks!

Yes all it does is turn up the brightness for me. But like you said, I guess it only works for Mac users.

F3 and H at the same time while not in any menus. Also, if it doesn't work and instead turns up brightness, try disabling your PC's shortcuts.
