Endermen; The most creepy and disturbing mob in minecraft, or at least I think so.

Despite the mystery that shrouds their sinister characters, they're freaking awesome. That is until you stare at them.

Endermen are neutral mobs. This means they roam around the minecraft world achieving little to nothing, such as getting in your way and climbing into mine carts, just like a pig, for example. But when you aggravate them they turn hostile, similar to the Zombie Pigman, Wolf, Iron Golem and Spiders and Cave Spiders during daytime.

When they get "aggro" as many players refer to it, they become hostile like a zombie or witch.
They will make terrifying sounds, which strike fear into the heart of their foes, they will zap across the map, they will shake in a violent, jerking fashion, their mouths will fall wide open and worst of all, their soulless, glowing eyes will penetrate your soul.

So this brings us back to the title, how do we survive these beings of wonder and craze?
There are various tactics. I will list all the ways to avoid these creatures harming you or getting "aggro" and I will tell you how to defeat them in one on one, armed combat.

Avoiding the Enderman

As previously mentioned, endermen become hostile when you make eye contact, or to be more exact, when you stare at their torso. This is the most dominant part of their body, so I suggest keeping your cursor well away from them. They also have a trait to become hostile when you harm them, so avoid that as well.

As you may know, you can place a pumpkin in the helmet armour slot in your inventory. Before 1.8 beta this did little more than ruin your vision and put a stupid pumpkin shaped texture over it. Since endermen were added in the 1.8 Beta "Adventure Update", it has received a new, fantastic use. When you have this pumpkin fashioned upon yourself, you may stare at any part of an endermen to your hearts content, with no retaliation. This can make you feel far more secure as a slight jolt of the cursor won't result in your demise. Despite this, harming the enderman will still cause it to attack, so once again, avoid that.

This one is simple; Endermen don't like water. I don't know whether it's hydrophobia, an allergy or they just can't swim but when an endermen goes in water, it takes a lot of damage, and quickly. Endermen can teleport 32 blocks in any direction. Therefore, in most in scenarios when they touch water they will instantly teleport far from you. This is yet another use to carrying a water bucket, as they do not become hostile. If there are no blocks the enderman can teleport to, it will simply take damage in the water until it's demise, so your safe there. In rainstorms endermen get soaked with rain and so fly around teleporting rapidly, until they end up either in a dry cave, under a tree or worse, in your base. Make sure to keep an eye out for this!

Fighting an Enderman

Defeating an enderman is a real challenge. They can teleport, deal large damage in a particularly large range, run quickly and make you defecate your underwear with there gross looks and fearful screeches. According to this, I suggest you follow one minor tip while fighting endermen that will deal you a substantial advantage; Open your sound options and mute hostile creatures. This way you have to worry about your health, not how much sleep you will get that night. I personally had a deep and dark fear of endermen, until I found this tip. Now I can duel them for hours on end without having to worry about their monotonous sounds which intensely scared me.

Endermen are 3 blocks tall, unlike most other mobs which vary in size but rarely exceed two. Steve is a grand total of 1.5 metres (1 and 1/2 blocks) tall, and no, skins don't change that. This means that due to the enderman's rare height, you can simply place a two high roof on you, look at some endermen, and hack them apart with your sword. They will keep sprinting at you but the roof will prevent them from getting closer, they can't win!

I also previously mentioned that water harms them. They also take damage from normal things as well. So fire, lava, fall damage, suffocation and most other things. You can create mob traps which harm them in all these ways. Search up sethblings poor enderman farm, for a cheap, simple and effective Xp grinder for endermen, and search the Ender Ender 2.0 by Ethoslab for a far more complex and expensive grinder. You can legitimately gain 30 levels in 20 seconds in survival, astounding!

Anyway people, I hope that you truely enjoy this blog and find it helpful. I spent a good half an hour writing this alone, and far longer planning. Please leave a diamond, a favourite and subscribe for more hoo-har!!

I remember when I first began MC, I saw an enderman, and was confused, as I had never seen one in MC videos.
