  1. Punch  trees. You will need the wood to make the basic tools and items.

  2. Make a crafting table. I remember when I couldn't figure out  how to even make one! Minecraft Wiki helped me with SO many  of the crafting recipes and still does! Click here to get to the Crafting Table page. Click here just to go to Minecraft Wiki.

  3. Make a house. This is where you will use the wood, dirt, etc. to make your house. It's ok if it isn't beautiful. I personally like to make more functional homes in survival
  4. Hunt for  food. Find the nearest animal and kill it! Sheep don't drop food. Useless ol' sheep. They drop wool though!

  5. Make a pickaxe, axe, sword, etc.
first you  need sticks to make it plus the material for the  type of tool you want. Start
out with a wooden pickaxe to gather coal.
  6. Go mining for coal. Use that pickaxe!
  7. Make torches. These magical things called torches are what ward off the evil  mobs that will want to kill you. Just be  warned, this will NOT ward them off comepletely.
  8. Gather wool and make a bed. You can use any wool and wood for this.

  9. Sleep in the bed or fight the monsters (not recommended for the first night)

~Additional Tips~

It will take time to get diamonds. Be patient.
