~Chapter 12~
i woke up to hear wheels rolling along a path. i looked around to see midnight curled up in a corner and whining. Lexi was laying down. she wasn't tied up but she seemed very weak. Drake sat tied up staring at the floor. the moon light shined through the thin cloth cover above. i sat up and crawled to Drake. It was to dark to see if any guards were around and i didn't want to risk it.
"Drake.. are you ok?"
"yea.. im fine.." he mumbled
"good. then i can do this." i slapped him in the face. he didnt move he just sat there.
"i guess i deserve that..... but.. it wasn't me.." he coughed out.
"you wrote the letter. you didn't have to."
"Lexi made me. i swear if i could i would do it over again."
i sighed and sat next to him.
"Drake.."
"yea..?" he looked over at me with his gray-ish eyes.
"why do you hate the king... did you have family too..?"
"oh... i thought i told you....." he looked away "my family was taken because my brother stood up for me... they say im worthless.... they said i wasn't worth killing. they killed them in front of me... they even made me.." he stopped and looked at me. his eyes watery but his face stone hard. i put my hand on his shoulder.
"you don't have to go o-"
"no.. you asked and i answered .. i'll finish.. they made me kill my brother. i was too weak to fight back... i still remember his broken hearted eyes staring at me..." he looked away again then looked back for any sign to stop.
"Drake... its ok. i know whats its like.. and you were right. i should have understood.. before...(chapter 4 if your confused :P)" i looked at his gray eyes. i don't know why but i felt it i had to hug him so i did.
"ok heres the plan to get out of here." i said looking at him. " you and Lexi will stay here. there's no need for you guys coming out with me. i'm going to climb up the hole over there and kill or knock off any guards or royals. first i need to know.. are there any royals or guards in this cart?"
he looked toward Lexi "no but i wouldn't trust Lexi.. like i said she made me write the letter." that hurt a lot to me. to think Lexi was behind this. At first i wasn't going to help them get out... but.. something changed when i saw the sadness in Drakes eyes. He was friends with Lexi ...so.. i decided to help her too.
she owed me.
