Hey there!
When i first started out, i new nothing about installing mods, to many of you out there this may seem like a pointless thing to write, but believe me, this will help to avoid alot of confusion!
DIAMOND AND SUBSCRIBE IF THIS HELPED!!!
Step 1:
Download a archiving software, (i use Winrar but this is NOT free)
if you do not know which one to use, i have included the download link for some free software (Not Malicious)
Step 2:
Download the mod you want.
But read it's description, if it says it needs forge, skip to the forge section, if it needs mod loader, carry on if it does not say then carry on aswell.
Step 3:
Find your .minecraft folder by opening your search bar, by clicking the windows button, type in %appdata% press enter.
open ..minecraft and open the bin folder, right click minecraft.jar and choose open with, select the browse for programs option and find your archiving software, choose that.
Now download Modloader and drag the contents of modloader into your minecraft.jar now do the same for your mod.
close minecraft.jar and run minecraft, thats it! all done!
FORGE
if using forge then download forge, thenm drag the contents of your forge into minecraft.jat do the same for your forge mod, close minecraft.jar and run minecraft ALL DONE!

WARNINGS:
IT IS BETTER TO INSTALL ON A CLEAN MINECRAFT.JAR
FORGE IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH MODLOADER
MINECRAFT MUST BE CLOSED BEFORE OPENING MINECRAFT.JAR
YOU NEED TO DELETE THE META INF FOLER IN YOUR MINECRAFT.JAR TO INSTALL MODS
