Hello everyone! :D this is my first evar interview with someone who ISN'T from my school! :L anyway, this is from SKYPE between me (rage) and PMC moderator and famous creator of MCSKIN3D!... *drumroll please!* PARIL!!!
www.planetminecraft.com/member/paril/
Subscribe me and him for moar! :D xD :3 thanks :P
non of this was altered and / or faked in anyway!
Rage : 1. what got you intrested in minecraft?
Paril : Well, one of my friends (whtdragon, actually) got it bought for her, and she showed me stuff on it and whatnot. I guess it eventually piqued my interest enough to actually download it for myself I had played it a long time ago when it was like.. 0.40 alpha or something, just when indev started.
Rage: cool! thats intresting!
Paril: but, of course it was creative-only, and I'm not really a creative person, so it never interested me.
Rage : Yep, so did you like anything in minecraft, what was it like when you first played the game?
Paril: I believe the first thing I ever did was run the server. I'm a multiplayer kind of guy; I didn't try single player before multiplayer. I had my friends that did have the game show me the ropes as for what I liked.. well, everything I suppose.
Rage: Ok then..
Paril : There's not much you can't like about it.
Rage : I agree!, next question!
2. Did you meet any of your best friends on planet minecraft and minecraft? or did you know them already?
Paril : Ehm.. I met a lot of interesting people on Minecraft, especially coming in from MCSkin3D's semi-fame; I've only met two people who actually recognized me from my past (I used to be active in the Quake II community under the same name). I have met someone from Planet Minecraft who I hold very dear to me, however.
Rage: OK, thats cool and aww :) i see you are very popular with the community, were you as popular as you are today?
Paril : Not entirely. I was, and probably still am, a name that pops up every so often in the Quake community - I still have my ties with them, but, Quake's community isn't anywhere near as active as Minecrafts' is.. in both cases, creating unique and interesting new ideas is what I specialize in.
Rage : cool, and last question, what made you who you are today? any one you wanna thank? or any softwares which helped you through your projects? eg. MCSKIN3D??
Paril : The first question is pretty tough; I take a lot of my influence from where I was in the Quake community. It's always going to be with me, as that was where I got my start in programming in general; John Carmack, the lead programmer/founder of id Software, had actually given me some very sound advice via email which kind of pushed me to live up to his level of expertise ...We had a Visual C 6.0 disk lying around, and that's pretty much what got me into starting programming with Quake.
Rage : Cool!
Paril : so, Microsoft and id Software were both instrumental in that. as for people; Raven, for being who she is and encouraging me to go farther; James, for all of his help ever since we had started working with Quake up until Minecraft; whtdragon, for pushing me to actually _start_ MCSkin3D, as without that it probably would never have gotten released....
Rage : Ok. so..
Paril : and, anybody else who is helping with beta testing, things like that; it's very important that we receive feedback as a community-based program.
Rage: Aww. thats great! ok paril, thanks for letting me interview you!
Paril : Tanks! Any time!
- END OF CONVERSATION - (well, what you need to hear xD)
