Liberty in Action:

Every day our players are learning liberty by playing it.
Here are just a few examples:
  • Steelpanmaster gets a dog... and another... and eleven more dogs. This month mynameistree found a clever way to troll by using /givepet thirteen times to teleport a pack of dogs to an unsuspecting player. Steelpanmaster was understandably confused, but he killed the dogs. A very thought provoking incident indeed.
  • K9us tests ideas! Before launch K9us expressed concerns about the effect of automation on our economy. He was surprised that I permitted automated fishing because it can produce abundant items, seemingly without limit. However, there is a real world cost to this economic activity which is observed in electricity bills and hardware costs. What's better still? K9us is testing it out. His shop, $tore now provides cheap fish, cheap enchanted books, cheap saddles, lilypads, tripwire hooks, and so many more items.
  • Phantom power! In Minecraft 1.13 there are phantoms which spawn above players who've not slept recently. This is quite an annoying new feature to Minecraft, but it creates a very interesting problem in high population areas. Players who have slept are being attacked by phantoms spawned by other players. How will our free market solve this problem? So far sharonclaws has built a sleeping area near spawn. Also, players have put awnings on their shops which are very effective in trapping the phantoms. A developing story, for sure.
  • TechnoWiking's first night spent in a swamp! The New World began as hostile terrain. Spawn is surrounded on three sides by a large swamp and players who did not claim land early have taken to building there. It is still quite a dangerous area but landowners are placing lights to prevent mobs from spawning. Also __Wildfire_ has recently added a new minecart rail system with a terminal near TechnoWiking's property. It will be interesting to see how things develop around these terminals.
  • The Emerald Clan includes Meiloorun, TheScrubJay, 3thanat0r, sharonclaws, and Cardano_ff. The have specialized in the emerald trade, producing the world's least expensive Diamond Pickaxe at present. For just 1.5 diamonds, a player can buy an unbreaking III efficiency III pickaxe at Emerald Tower, located near Spawn. The Emerald Clan has settled north of spawn near a Village.
  • combatbiscuit discovers the four horsemen! During lightning storms there is a small chance that a skeleton horse will spawn. When players approach, the horse will suddenly become four horses with well armed skeletons riding them! Quite an imposing adversary!
  • Sunken ships, dense Jungles, and vast Mesas have been discovered in our New World. Remixster will be remembered as one of the people who first explored here. Not only that, Remix brought Cocoa Beans and Terracotta blocks to Spawn. These commodities are now available for sale.
  • The Netherway is open! After months of testing, Haksndots Netherway has established itself in the New World. At present, the Netherway includes a rapid transit system which spans the world, connecting more than twenty disparate locations. Origo Station, which lies at the heart of the Netherway also includes a Brick Exchange where players may sell Netherrack and Coal to a machine which produces Nether Bricks. The Bricks can be purchased, assembled into blocks, and sold once again to Haksndot. Netherbricks are used in the construction of the Netherway. Haksndot is sourcing building materials by crowdsourcing workers.
  • Our players started the New World with two things: their digital body and their freedom. With those two things we have turned the world into a safer place with abundant goods available for sale at more than 500 player created shops. On the first day our players struggled just to eat. Food was hard to find and expensive to buy if it was even available for sale. Today, just 1 diamond can buy you years worth of food. Thanks to __Wildfire_'s automated chicken farm, the price of cooked chicken fell from ~$450 per stack to $1 per stack in the first three weeks.
  • Vrael1 gets a job. In addition to Haksndot's Netherway, he has created the world's first Wither Skeleton Farm. To improve the efficiency of the farm, other spawn spaces must be blocked off. Vrael1 has agreed to conduct this work at the rate of $100,000 per hour.
  • A rail line at Spawn has been a month long project for __Wildfire_. At present, the rail system passes through land owned by more than seven different people. It turns out if you want to build roads and have the means to do so, then you build roads.
  • The perfect gift. This month Haksndot hired Rehns to build a Mansion at spawn. It's very exciting to see such incredible work being produced in the early days of Liberty's New World. The biggest surprise came when the house was completed; when Haksndot presented it as a gift, for me. Thank you so much.

There's so much more happening in Liberty Minecraft!
