Since the release of ME3 and the "From ashes"-DLC, people have been complaining that the ending for ME3 lacks the choice-options they had been expecting. They say the endings aren't different enough, that they're too much alike. I beg to differ.

In themselves the three possible endings, along with their respective alternates per choice, are very much different. Let's discuss them one by one.

"Control the Reapers".
This ending, by far, is the best possible outcome to keep the current hierarchy in the ME-universe intact as possible. The Citadel, though heavily damaged, is still intact and usable. The Charon-relay, also damaged, is also still intact. The Reapers retreat, can now be counted on as a massive military force and can provide the organics with the means to control all synthetics. The mass-relay-network is kept intact and all hierarchy can continue as if the war never happened.

"Destroy all synthetics".
Ah, the most unethical version; You end up destroying the Reapers, the Geth, the remainders of the Collectors, etcetera... To be bunt, total synthetic genocide. "Well, you've done good. Killed three species today. We can call it a day." You also destroy the mass-relay network, the Citadel and, if you're a dman bad soldier, you might accidentally incinerate Earth too. Ah, the smell of failure...
Also, you too die, though you might life (as being hinted by some random body gasping for air) but if you life, there's a distinct smell of 'DLC' when there's a small hint towards the option that this choice is merely an indoctrinated experiment by the Reapers to see if you're strong enough to withstand them. Ah, dubious endings...

Not to forget that you have trapped almost all members of the military of three to five species in the Sol-system, since the relay has been destroyed. Yaay for an additional 10 billion people to feed, with only 1 fertile planet to support them. You did real good, son. Now you may have begun the extinction of about 10 species...

"Synthesis".
This ending is actually the most far ending of them all. The Reapers are being stopped (presumably by also making them into synthe-organics), all organic-synthetic-wars are forced to end (because they're now of the same construct, namely all being synthe-organics) but the mass-relay network is also destroyed.

However, since the reapers are still intact and the relay is still around, even though in pieces, you could reverse-engineer the technology, rebuild the relay and begin reconstructing the galactic relay-network. It's not so bad, considering everyone can now life to be up to a 1000 years with ease, since they're no longer organics, strictly speaking, so there's no actual need for air, food or gravitation support.

Conclusion.

The 'Control'-ending gives you the Reapers as military, control over all synthetics and a mildly-damaged relay-network.

The 'Destroy'-ending leads to the extinction of about 10 species, including humanity, together with the destruction of the relay-network, leading the galaxy into pure chaos, severing all connections made in the last 50.000 years.

The 'Synthesis'-ending gives potential immortality, decreased dependance on external factors and environments, a fully repairable network, a Reaper military and a total control over the galaxy.

Still complaining they're not diverse enough?
