Alright, last week's business is over. Man, it was hectic, and not all my efforts were fruitful (dammit, we lost to Fallon).
But that's done. Here are some things that would give you the upper hand in tight situations.
Normally, if you're being chased by mobs in a dark mineshaft, you would think that jumping into a cobweb would be death. But if you consider that critical hits are done by attacking while falling, and that you are continuously falling when you're in a cobweb, then you might take the time do do this. This will drastically increase the damage you do for a short time (while you're falling through the web).
If you see an enemy near a cliff or edge (where he could fall to his death), take the time to sprint and attack him. This will increase the knockback you do and you will have a better chance of sending him flying into oblivion (this is for minigames like SkyBlock Warriors and Shaft PvP).
This particular "strat" is quite commonly used, but it provides a whole bunch of advantages over your unfortunate opponent. When you are being followed by an enemy while you're in water, and you're taking heavy fire (from his bow), dive under. Arrow shots will be slower and easier to dodge, fishing poles don't travel underwater, and you can come up under him to attack. Believe me, it is much easier for you to hit him from under than for him to hit you from above. Don't forget to breathe-or you'll die trying.
