Strangely, the Minecraft people added "removed herobrine" again in the new update.
I am not sure why, maybe HEROBRINE was still lurking somewhere in the world *shiver*
Well, look at the VERY bottom of the update 1.3.1, and they said that they removed herobrine! :P
and at version 1.4, (i think its called that) they put loads of cool stuff...

beacons: do /give name 137, and they give you special powers withen the radius of 27~28 blocks. place on top of diamond, iron, emerald, etc. pyramids
command blocks(they do /give everyone in range items): do /give name 138
this is coz they dont have these awesome stuff in inv.
witherboss: This dude has 3 heads, and the wierd part is that it throws its own head, which explodes (lol)
awesome golden apple: this thing can heal you right away! say you have 1/2 hearts. you eat the apple, and yer health ZOOMS up!
dyed cloths: you can dye your armor to make it into a dyed clothing, and the leather armor's name changed into pants, tunic, etc.
animals can go through portals! (damn it! nether army marching out of my... ARGGH!!!)
Carrots! Potatoes! eat them or make NEW potions!
night vision/invisibility potions! (good for griefers! Its gonna be heaven for them!)
