Hello :)

Today I am going to review 1.3.1 and tell you all the pro's and cons of the new update.

Before I look at the list of things changed, I try to see what I can notice myself.

These are the things I noticed in about 20 mins:
New Creative mode Inventory
New Single Player Commands or something

Thats lame.
I did badly :(
Those 2 things were correct at least.
So lets get onto reviewing. I checked on the opening page what had been changed

---Single-player now runs a server internally, Publish the single-player instance to LAN

What this means is you can play worlds with people connected to the same connection as you, so if you have any brothers or sisters with seperate computers you can play with them

This is good because if you want to play single player by yourself, you can, and if you want to play with someone in your house without fighting over a computer, you can!

--Automatically detect LAN worlds in multi-player screen

This automatically detects worlds that are in the Local Area Network, so same thing about playing with brothers or sisters

-- Added o cheatso option in single-player (enables commands)

This could be good if you are building something, but if you are surviving, then you could easily be tempted to use this!

--Added o bonus chesto option to give players a quicker start in a new world

Could be good but could also ruin the fun of suriving a little bit.

--Added adventure mode (work in progress)

This isn't out yet, but I think what happens is people set quests for you where you cant destory blocks, and once you complete it you get a prize. (I might be right but don't trust me)

--Added trading with villagers

This is good because it doesnt go over the top and ruin the fun, and if you need something and you cant find it naturally you could trade a villager.

--Added emeralds, emerald blocks and emerald ore

This is like a green diamond basically. It's roughly as rare as diamond and It can be found between layers 4 and 31, and can also be obtained by trading with villagers. The only use really is trading it for items, and making into emerald blocks, although more uses for emerald will come in further updates

---Added cocoa beans to jungles

This will make cocoa beans a bit more common, making cookies a bit more common. Eh, Not that good

+ Added the Ender Chest

The Ender Chest is the same as a normal chest, although, all of the ender chests in the world and in other dimensions share the same contents

+ Added tripwires

Tripwires are quite useful, if you walk between the two tripwires, it can set off a redstone circuit. It is probably the most hard to see redstone activator, so quite cool to be honest

+ Added new creative mode inventory with search functionality

This is so, so ,so useful. The search in the creative inventory makes finding items in creative a whole load easier. It also divides the items in to categories, so if you don't want to use search, its still easier to find.

+ Added writeable books

There's a new item called book and quill which allows you to write books. I am not sure if you can share your books with others on multiplayer, unless you actually give the item to them.

+ Added temples to jungles and deserts

There is now temples in jungles and deserts to explore, go and find one to see what is in there!

+ Added chat settings

I think you can change the chat settings on multiplayer.

+ Added more information on the debug screen (F3)

Quite good, and your co-ordinates can no longer be covered by the pesky bars.

+ New launcher with o Play Demoo button if not premium user

Noobs that have not paid for minecraft get to play a demo version.

+ Added /seed command to see map seed
+ Added /defaultgamemode to set default game mode in a world (affects new players)
+ Added /debug command for profiling

These are all commands that you can do in single player on "cheats mode"

* Decreased max enchantment level from 50 to 30

This is quite useful, you dont have to grow as much levels to get a full enchantment meaning you save time.

* The /tp command can now send players to a specific coordinate

You can use /tp on single player cheats mode to teleport to certain co-ordinates

* Mobs can spawn on flat surfaces (such as up-side-down stairs)

Mobs can spawn on any flat surface now, whereas it used to only be able to spawn on a full block (ie. stone, dirt, cobble, etc)

* Updated language files

There is a lot more languages on the language screen now

* Mobs are much less likely to glitch through blocks

Mobs are a lot less likely to glitch up and go through walls. It used to be very unlikely, but now its very very very very very unlikely

* Stars are smaller and brighter

The stars produce a higher light level now, and are a bit smallerr meaning more can fit into the sky meaning night time is a lot lighter than it was.

* Sky color in The End has been changed

They changed the colour of the sky in the end, dont know what to.

* Wooden log blocks can now be placed side-ways

The most annoying thing ever. Wooden logs can now be placed on the side. Sometimes useful, but when you dont want it to happen, it always happens.

* Water slowly drips through leaves during rain

Realistic, yes, but bad for treehouses, as you will get wet

* Gravel texture has been modified

Its a bit better, looks worse underground, but looks better in a path.

* Levers can be placed in the roof

Hmm, I guess thats ok, levers on the roof FTW!

MORE COMING SOON

* Creeperso explosions damage is now modified by difficulty
* Performance improvements
* Other bug fixeso ¦
