Hello all that are new to mine craft!The way to stop is to get wood. Walk to a tree and hold down the key board and your hitting it! when you have some wood turn them into wood planks by crafting. you can craft more with a crafting table. so get wood and keep making them wood planks when you are happy with how much you got you can place down the blocks and make a house! :D
