In minecraft 1.4 so far they have already added beacons which give off light and they could come in handy for locating your house. Also they added command blocks which are basically redstone powered blocks you can type commands into and when you trigger them it types the command. But by far my most favorite thing they have added is skeletons and zombies have a rare chance of spawning with armor and sometimes even enchanted armor. When they have armor I believe they will eventually make it so the mobs will drop the armor. Furthermore zombies will sometimes have shovels and pickaxes, also skeletons will sometimes have bows and sometimes they wont. Finally when a villager is killed by a zombie the villager has like a 50% chance of turning into a zombie!
