Mojang continues to play whack-a-mole with Minecraft bugs on the PC since the release of the Pretty Scary Update last month. A new patch was released on Wednesday that fixes issues relating to LAN games and poor baby wild wolves that spawn as tame and ownerless.

The 1.4.5 Minecraft update should download automatically when you start the launcher for the game. The list of fixes this time around is relatively small due in part to the urgency needed in fixing the LAN issue. The good news is that torches should no longer appear to be floating and baby villagers and baby wild wolves spawn correctly now.
  • Clients now get the correct IP for LAN servers
  • Fixed the incorrect positions of some particles (the flickering torch bug)
  • Entering IPv6 servers no longer crashes the client
  • Fixed missing last page of /help
  • Spawning baby villagers no longer creates only baby farmers
  • Spawning baby wild wolves no longer creates ownerless tame wolves

Mojang is still working toward the 1.5 release of Minecraft as well which features a rewrite of the rendering engine. The plan is to improve the lighting in the sandbox game while also improving the performance of the rendering engine.
